You’ve got to be joking. First game back from injury and hasn’t played in weeks. It is not even debatable that he’s been our best player so far this season.

We saw that the Flames are capable of putting in effort and playing hard to start a game. We also saw them still playing too much around the periphery in the offensive zone and struggling with consistency in maintaining the compete level, discipline and attention to details over 60 minutes.

After 5 or 6 games with Sutter hopefully we start to see noticeable changes in terms of consistent attention to detail in their game and sustained effort.

Truth is, McDavid is a pretty ridiculous player. He's a game breaker. That game winning goal was a hell of a shot.

If Canada boycotts the Olympics, I'll at least be glad I don't have to cheer for McDavid.

Weird to single him out
I didn’t see it that way. On his line, I thought both 13 and 27 had more energy and Gaudreau had a lot quicker stops and starts , and at least was very engaged. Monahan a few too many battleship turns which is especially deadly for the center of a line.

Gaudreau still a turnover machine but I’m starting to think some of that is due to the passengers on his line.

Monahan has been a non factor for quite a while now. His line can’t be trusted in a close game 5 on 5. We are long past the expiration of 13 and 23 as an effective pair.

If they had that effort every night their record would be better right now. Obviously there is still work to do but lets not act like it was 10-0

A real coach wont make square pegs try to fit into round holes. I think that is lost in all of this.

Nah, the Flames have more than enough talent and skill. They just need to work for a full 60 and quit making stupid defensive gaffes that end up in the back of our net.

They gave McDoofus way too much space in the 3rd and it cost them the game. If you allow the guy to just skate into the zone completely unchallenged like that, that's not gonna end well.

He hasn't played in 2 weeks and was the Flames best player in the early season. Guy has stolen half of the Flames wins

Oilers are so beatable. Flames did a lot right and had a lead in the third. I really thought they would win tonight, but they wilted.

Needed to get in Smith’s face more. And maybe not let the most talented player in the league have a 3 point game and run around uncontested.

Lol..Put the Pom poms away man. .

Oilers realized they can load up. Flames have no line that can win the resulting matchup. Does that hurt your feelings?

Cassie Campbell has her job for the same reason that many public companies are being forced to turn over their boards of directors. Crap on me for saying it but it’s the truth.

Can’t blame the start, can’t blame the system, can’t blame the effort, can’t blame the coach. This team just doesn’t have it. The Flames need endless chances to score whereas the Oilers need only a few. McDavid and Draisaitl put on a clinic almost every shift tonight whereas Monahan could’ve been a scratch this game and I wouldn’t have noticed.

This team needs a legit game breaker up the middle who can go toe to toe against these guys once in a while. Sure it’s nice to have a 2 centers who can shadow McDavid and Draisaitl and play them hard, but you can only contain them, not stop them. Sooner or later they’re going to score and we need someone who can answer the bell and we just don’t.

Flames shot quality was low, despite the large quantity.

This has a lot to do with it. They built up his confidence tonight by letting him feel the puck a lot with relatively easy ones.

We ALL know exactly what Mike Smith is - a .900 goalie who has spurts. He's in one of his little bumps currently.

Criticism of them is fine - but this reeks of misogyny.
Makes Flames fans and this site look bad.

He must have had five times tonight where instead if trying to get the puck he just waved at it with one had on his stick. He didn't even pretend there would be a puck battle.

On the bright side I thought the effort was way better. Flames got beat by McDavid and to a lesser extent Smith.

Markstrom really needs to have that third goal. Shots from outside the dots need to be saved.
Gaudreau had a bad game, no denying it.
But he's a 1 man line out there, he needs some help.

As I said with Ward we were

Good Goaltending
Average at best Team
Below Average Coaching

Now with Sutter
Good Coaching.

Hopefully Average at best team can get it done with Good goaltending and good coaching.

On a hopeful note. The oilers 5050 is over a million again. I purchased, so let’s hope I win!

Flames 5050 is a measly 275k

Yes. He tries, but the support isn't there sometimes.
