Ha. Sutter being interviewed by Ron Maclean. Maclean tries to pump the Oilers tires by saying how innovative they were dressing 11 forwards and 7 dman. Sutter put him in his place by saying he won a cup with LA by doing that almost a decade ago. Love this man.

Rewatching the press conference. Pretty pumped!

Just caught the Sutter HNIC interview. Says Sam Bennett is at the top of his list to work with. Because Ron McLean asked him what he is going to do with Sam.

Also intimated the Flames players aren't pulling in the same direction. Says some players think they can play one way while others have to play harder. once he sorts that out it should be pretty easy to get this team rolling.

There's nothing innovative whatsoever about the Oilers. Nothing. Edmonton is no good.

Ron MacLean can go f*** himself.

Also, in the same interview, Ron asked how Sutter might tap into Bennett and Sutter mentioned that Sam was on the top of his list of people to talk to once he's in town. Thinks that Bennett can be a good player on this team.

Lets be honest at the end of next year Gaudreau was already on track to sign a large contract. Sutter is gonna make that contract quite a bit larger. Why?

Because he’s going to make Gaudreau mentally tough- and it’s the one part of his game that’s severely lacking.

Sutter is going to do with Gaudreau what he did with Iginla- make a great player phenomenal. Gaudreau should be nervous but not forget that what he’s gonna learn here is going to carry with him the rest of his career (and life, actually). This is a blessing in disguise for guys like Gaudreau who get so down on themselves when things don’t go their way.
Hell, even Gaudreau thinks so.

“Some of our best years here in Calgary, at least with me and Mony here, we had coaches that demanded a lot of us and a lot out of their top players and held us accountable if we weren’t playing well,” the 27-year-old Gaudreau reminded prior to Saturday’s meeting with the arch-rival Oilers. “And that’s something that I think we need here. If we’re not playing well and we’re not giving the team our best effort, we need someone to let us know and sit us down and make sure we know that. Because it’s important for us to try to help our team win games and when we’re not going, it’s not acceptable.

Oilers only play 11 forwards because they don’t have 12 NHL caliber ones.

First team to keep their same 6 skaters on the ice for the final 5+ minutes of the game.

Any way to see this interview after the fact?

Is this team built around Bennett? Kinda sick of him getting special attention when he should’ve been traded long ago. This is why the Flames keeps being mediocre because they keep focus on one mediocre player.

This team is not built around Bennett, not is he even considered a core piece, yet Bennett remains the leading playoff event strength scorer for the Flames since 2015, and second overall in playoff scoring behind only Monahan.

This was a quote from Darryl when he was first hired by the Flames back in 2002.

There is a sea between “built around this player” and “this player can be good on this team”.

Nor seven NHL caliber defencemen nor two NHL caliber goalies.

The league shouldn’t force them to dress more than the 9 NHL Fwds, 3 NHL D and the 0G they have.

Maclean is a national embarrassment.

There's a real good journalist buried in there somewhere but he can't get out of his own way when it comes to the sappiness and asking questions completely unrelated to what's going on

Very exciting news.

Tkachuk under Sutter is going to be something else. I could see Chucky being made captain at some point in the near future and our identity being forged.
