Pretty sure midway through the third I saw a graphic pop up showing that Lindholm-Monahan- Gaudreau combined for 0 SOG to that point.

Kept him there, foolishly, this offseason, listening to the dressing room who didn’t like or want a meanie like Peters was.

This team gave up on Ward basically during the Vancouver game 12 days ago, and they have been playing out the string since.

They don’t trust a thing he says on the ice because they don’t know if he knows what he’s doing and can get them back on track within a game or game to game. Fire and brimstone from the GM 7 days ago has made it worse, not better.

One of the saddest things about the Flames sucking, from my point of view, is that Johnny is a really special player to watch. When he is on his game he makes passes and plays that are surprising and amazing. It's bittersweet to have such a special player but no team success to go with it.

It’s also on not wasting development of our young players. That’s worth something. And with a capable coach it won’t be the same result

Yes it’s still very much a coaching issue. If I had to rank the top 3 right now.

1) Coaching is horrible - both systems and personnel management
2)Top players aren’t playing anywhere close to the level they can and really we have no “elite” players on current form.
3) Forward depth is nonexistent

Yes.

They should have never green lit making this guy head coach to start with after the debacle he had in getting outcoached all series against Dallas.

And honestly I don’t know if it’s an ownership mandate or a Treliving policy but how about you actually spend some money and go get a real proven head coach for once and spend some money on the position.

Spend $80M on players and then cheap out with the $900k head coach who is the lowest paid head coach in the league

No the biggest issue is the GM, he sucks at his job. He then hires a crappy coach and assembles a mediocre team. The crappy team and the coach are problems but they are not the issue.

Hire a new GM. Then hire a new coach. Then evaluate your roster, then make the appropriate changes at the deadline and at the draft.

I can just imagine this offseason. Treliving's hunt for depth dmen, as he always does, expecting those long playoff runs, yet not actually improving the core issues of the roster.

No, he ain’t. He’s a guy that does a few things very very well, but he’s quite easy to shut down, and teams have figured it out. Elite players don’t get shut down - they can play through it.

He's the kind of player that as a fan you know would be magic on the Penguins a few years ago, or the Bolts/Flyers/Leafs today.

On a line where he doesn't have to carry the load in terms of possession and has elite talents lacing up next to him, he would frequent the highlight reels.

I mean maybe the players are part of the problem but it really sucks identifying who really needs to be moved when you have Ward behind the bench dragging everyone's value down.
