If you were Buffalo would you trade Eichel? I’d trade anyone except him. I suppose his NMC coming up is a factor.

Obviously you wouldn't, but Eichel is fed up with that trash organization. If it weren't for Draisaitl in Edmonton helping out McDavid, I am 100% confident McDavid would be in the same situation.
Dahlin has regressed, the offense is dried up, and Ullmark is barely getting any help. A recipe for disaster since Eichel has been around. Top that off with 15m cap space tied to two players that have only registered a whopping point COMBINED.
Would you stay if you're Jack? At some point he's going to force ownership's hand if he hasn't already. He won't be a Sabre for long.

The thing about the Sabres, is aside from their management changeover constantly, they've seemed to bring in the right players. Year after year most people thing they're on the right track. The coaches they've brought in appear to be the right decisions at the time as well. How they've underperformed is a real question and you have to wonder what in their culture is making that team do so badly. Could it be the run down city itself? If so, why is Detroit generally alright as a hockey town? It's such a weird thing because I look at their moves and they tend to be right all over, but it just never pans out. Good decisions don't always equal proper outcomes.

Is it actually? I think that very much remains to be seen, since Detroit only entered their rebuilding period around the same time that their economy cratered. It remains to be seen how the team and the city will come out of it.

^^Definitely not the city, the less distractions the better. Signing Skinner to 9 million is beyond the pale.....and they passed on Drysaddle and took the other Sam instead.
It’s unfortunate that they did not get McDavid, that would have been the best for parties....

I wonder if Eichel disagreed with trading O’Reilly? Or letting Lehner go in favour of Ullmark and figuring Carter Hutton could pick up any slack.

One thing I have wondered is how much control Jack has in the organization. It seemed at one point they were willing to do anything to appease him. I wonder if trading the franchise player would change that organization around. Like you said, they are bringing in the right players. But, is their system reliant on something else? Is it not built on a franchise player, but rather a team effort, (as stupid as that sounds)?
It kind of reminds me of Treliving, where he has made some good moves for the core to be successful, but we haven't really made a big push either.

The Sabres aren't trading Eichel for anything short of a HAUL.
Picks, prospects and high potential, young NHL talent with top line/pairing ceiling and fit within the age of their core.
The packages being suggested in this thread are more 'win now' that anything, and I can't help but think what a sad admission that would be for Kevyn Adams to make a win now deal with the Flames of all teams. We have a better supporting cast for Monahan/Hanifin than they do currently, and are still at best a wild card team.
What does that deal possibly sell to Buffalo's fan base?

I’m with you. Center Ice is the most important position on a winning team, next to goaltending. Centers like Eichel are usually only had at the top of the draft, and even then-they don’t come along like him. He hasn’t even hit his prime yet, and he’s been playing on the Sabres. I say there’s no untouchable on this team, if it came down to aquiring this guy. If we have to fill in a couple of pieces over the next year or two, fine. Aquiring him would make a HUGE difference.

Exactly. You don't get many chances to acquire a guy like that, and 9.5/10 times it requires a lottery ball.

I don't even care if Eichel doesn't re-sign with us (as I would expect him to sign in the states afterwards). But, we'd have a legitimate franchise player who could help us go all in for the next 5 years while we have Markstrom for that long too.

It's not up to him until the 2026-2027 season
5 years would be worth moving heaven and earth for him

NMC in 22-23, so he can pick and choose if they want to move him.

Blech. I hate it when it is boring on the ice and boring off the ice. If your brand of hockey is soporific, at least entertain me with trades, firings, and TMZ drama.
