Eric is a public figure and has been for over a decade covering this team. It was meant to be humorous and likely was to Stajan/Francis. They spend a lot of time together.

There is so much anger/doom around the club right now by the fans that everything is being perceived as egregious/wrong/disrespect.

I suspect that you just saw it through that kind of lens and to be honest there is so much disregard for Eric Francis that even if it was done in an obvious funny way, most wouldn't catch it.

I don’t know, it seems to me that the media is more interesting if there are a variety of views. Who wants to listen to a bunch of commentators all in lock step with management? The interplay with Pinder on the radio was great, the other guys always seem to agree and it’s boring.

I get that Eric never played the game and all that, do I care enough to want him off the show? No. I would not be surprised if the whole discussion with Stajan was talked about beforehand, not quite scripted, but something like that.

he doesnt provide a different point of view, he deliberately champions the opposite of whatever makes sense in order to farm clicks


the interplay with pider was great because he called him out for lying, it wasnt because they had this meeting of minds on some kind of hockey issue. hes playing a wwe heel character

Bruce was anti-Darryl Sutter and during the end of his tenure covering the Flames would always incorporate subtle snipes at Darryl in his NHL articles. As the years went on I lost confidence in Darryl the GM maybe earlier than most posters so maybe that's what where it came from? Maybe I'm not remembering properly but I don't recall it bothering me that much if people thought I was him. The only reason I called that poster Eric as it was maybe the first time in the history of this forum I had seen anyone come to Francis's defense so passionately. I honestly never realized he had any fans.

I’ve found that blocking Francis on Twitter and turning the channel/station or hitting mute when he’s in TV to be very therapeutic.

If I recall there was also a poster on HF that I think quite possible WAS Bruce (Bicycle Bruce I think) and people maybe thought you were that poster.
