Keep the 3-game series format next year.

Johnny just seems like he wants to be more serious and workmanlike in his approach, and that’s not a bad thing.

For me, effort within the play is great. Effort and “look at how much I care” after the whistle impresses me less. You get hurt by another guy and react, fine. But a big scrum after every shove or chirp wears a bit, especially if the effort wasn’t there prior to the whistle.
Don't get me wrong, I really like Johnny and Mony on this team but i think Johnny's reaction is a sign of frustration at the big picture of the direction this team is going. To make such a good play and then react like your dog died just is not good for him or the team in a game that needs to be played with emotion and usually night in and night out only number 19 is the guy trying to do that.

They are four points behind Winnipeg with same games played and still have a number to play against them but are out of playoff picture? I’ll never understand that one.

It obviously doesn’t look good now and things are trending downward by the day, but to say they’re “out of the playoff picture” when the gap is four points and 39 games to go is ridiculously incorrect.

Oh.

Do we have to go through this again?

Ugh. At least Marky is probably in goal (although BSD was "OK" if not stellar last night). But we'll still have to watch the blender and the lack of motivation. More scotch may be required.

If Tre is keeping Ward, don't bother trading draft picks for help. No one could help get this team anywhere with the slow, plodding style they play. The part that bugs me most is we keep losing another year of our best players. We are literally burning piles of money to save a few bucks.

Gaudreau's effort and/or will to win is a complete non-issue. Are there any harder working flames forwards than lucic and gaudreau all season??? No.
I would put Eatbread up there too

I predict Flames win 8-0, this game becomes a penalty-filled affair, and is fun and exciting as heck to watch.

This team is really reminding me of Brent Sutter a lot in terms of how they generate offence. Hope everyone - the players and the coach - have taken a good hard look at themselves and figure a way out of this mess starting tonight.

A win would be pretty massive...3 points back with 2 games in hand and a full slate of Sens games

This is an important game. Win and like you say, you feel like you're ahead of Edmonton.

Lose and you have a losing record against 3 of the top 4 teams, and .500 against Montreal.

Playing Ottawa will be great, but everyone is beating them. It's going to be hard to make the playoffs if you have a losing record against TO, MTL, WPG and Edmonton.

I’ve seen precious little emotion from number 19 lately.

At this point, I don't see the upcoming games against Ottawa as instant wins.

With the rumours that the players told Mathew to take it down a notch in the “pest” area of his game , sure sounds like he listened. Can’t believe our players thought that would be a good idea. Guess they don’t want to battle after the whistle is blown. Goes perfectly with them not wanting to battle during play also. Really like the country club atmosphere they have created.

So Tkachuk is teaching them a lesson by playing poorly?

Jesus. That’s not something to be proud of

The Flames need to bring in J Walter Weatherman so Tkachuk can focus on his actual job

He was already playing poorly before the told him to settle down. Being an agitator is big part of his game. Yes he needs to get his game together but let the man do what he does best by getting under opponents skin

I don't care if they lose every other game. Just beat the freaking Oilers.
