My guess is we see Simon again to inject some life into the lineup and really stir things up!

They have to win tonight to salvage this back to back and keep their heads above water. They are now 11 points behind the Leafs and have fallen out of the playoff picture.

This is the only FOI thread I dare read on days like this. Glad there's some hockey on tonight to take my mind off CP.

They have quit on the coach. Kchuck is sick of being the only one willing sacrifice to win. Look at Johnny's face after setting up the only goal they got!!! He doesn't give a ####. Package him up with Mony and anyone else except Dube, Mangy, Lindholm, Kchuck, Valimaki or Anderson to get Eichel and hire a proven coach.

Man, I really dislike this narrative around gaudreaus goal reaction. He basically set that entire goal and scoring chance thru individual effort, and skill. I read his reaction as a general frustration they all must be feeling and more so that they FINALLY were able to generate a scoring chance. Gaudreau's effort and/or will to win is a complete non-issue. Are there any harder working flames forwards than lucic and gaudreau all season??? No.

Win? Lose? Meh?

I never miss a game. It is always appointment viewing and I don't even scroll my phone or go in the game threads until intermission. I am glued to the TV and ride the wave of emotion.

Last night I was so indifferent that I joined our weekly Friday night poker game online/zoom call thing and paid more attention to that. This team is not only mediocre, they are boring and emotionless and it rubs off.

I am usually optimistic when the team slumps that they will reverse the course and go on a nice streak. My optimism is fading fast.

Will be interesting for sure.
Game likely to be on mute, either going to be Cassie fawning over McDavid and how he ties his skates, or dreamy rambling about how the Oilers dont need McDavid or Drai to score for the team to win after last night from Debrusk.

You expected a pop in emotion from them last night after being read the riot act and wanting to show well for and support their coach who is under fire. There ended up being zero to little emotion and although the work rate was there it was highly unorganized. If that happens again it's pretty bleak for Ward to get anything out of these players any more.

I think I genuinely don’t care what happens and that makes me sad.

Win or lose I don't even care, just show me that you care please Flames. Make me consider caring more.

Season already feels like a throw away

My new strategy. I'll watch the first period and if I don't like it then . . . .

Yeah, I don’t like the micro-psychoanalyzing on reactions and so on. Players react different ways. No one questioned Gio’s effort (not until this year anyway) but he’s been a pretty game faced guy. Monahan people always question because he doesn’t push and shove much, and he gets excited less, but he did seem to do a lot of work on developing his game, which implies commitment. Johnny just seems like he wants to be more serious and workmanlike in his approach, and that’s not a bad thing.

For me, effort within the play is great. Effort and “look at how much I care” after the whistle impresses me less. You get hurt by another guy and react, fine. But a big scrum after every shove or chirp wears a bit, especially if the effort wasn’t there prior to the whistle.

If they lose tonight you have to think Brad puts the 1st and 2nd round picks in play to try to find that piece that will spark a run towards a playoff spot.

Maybe something like the 2021 1st, Sam Bennett and a conditional 3rd (moves up to a 2nd in 2021 if we make the playoffs) for Getzlaf. Getzlaf could be the piece that gets us into the playoffs to face Matthews and Marner.

Johnny doesn't lack effort. He lacks physical abilities to do what he wants to do. And that is to put the team on his back and win.

It's the bigger guys you have to question. Show some pride and put up a legitimate fight.

Getzlaf is 35, makes $8M, and has 3 points this year. This couldn’t make less sense.

Automatic loss night. I’d rather watch the heat play quite honestly. Treliving, your days are numbered.

You're still on this??
It was stupid when you posted it in the game thread and even worse to keep on it.
Stop trolling.

The scary thing is it is damn hard to keep McDavid and Leon in check in back to back games. Chances are they are gonna get theirs tonight.
The Flames will need to outproduce that.
keeping them off the score sheet last night and not winning is frustrating.

My strategy is similar, but I won't tune in until the 2nd. No effort means I'll go do something else.

I'll never stop supporting them but if the experience isn't entertaining, I'm not watching

Agreed. If you are looking for this type of deal...the answer would be Kopitar...but I am not sure this helps you for more than one or two runs.
