2 of a possible 2 points. No complaints about the final result.

However, this team plays too timidly at times, and it drives me crazy.

Maybe we should have Monahan be our point man on 5v4 and have someone else play the bumper (Andersson?)

Was it just me or did it look like Johnny was hesitant to pass to Simon tonight?

Mangi sends Beagle down to the ice, Tkachuk launches Virtanen, and of course 6'8" Tyler Myers waits until Mangi is occupied with Juloevi and hits him with a dirty crosscheck (at 16 seconds).

I'm not the biggest Monahan fan on this site, but I've liked his play a lot more in his own zone this year, he seems to be more physical along the boards. Made a great pass on the OT winner tonight. Not my choice for a #1 center but I've noticed him quite a bit this year in a positive way.

The Canucks season is already on the line. This set was win or die for them, with possibly the GM's job hanging in the balance, and the teams have been playing hockey for one month, with a bye-week randomly lodged in there for the Flames. Their best player of late and notorious Canuck killer Backlund was out.

The fact that they still pulled out an important win and 2 of 3 in this dire set for their opponents is good news. As someone said, the division leading Leafs coughed up a 4 goal lead to the Sens tonight. The on ice product is rarely polished after 1 month of play, for just about all teams.

We're collecting points at the end of the day in a results oriented business and game, that's good.

That’s like saying on a beautiful, clear July day of about 25 degrees...”I must be the only one who thinks the sky is too blue today!”

Would that surprise you? That he didn't want to pass to a guy who has been a healthy scratch for half the games?

Not sure what people wanted from Monahan tonight. He had a couple great chances and is obviously a little snake bit for scoring. But he had good board work all night, a few nice passes (eg the Gaudreau breakaway) and of course he totally sold the goalie on a shot for a great setup. He’s only got one real line mate, so I think he’s doing OK.

I thought Tkachuk was a little better. Mangiapane had a great game, Lindholm had his best in a while, Dube and Lucic were pretty good.

I like Mackey OK - he’s physical, Rasmus had his best game in a while, Valimaki is getting better and better. Gio didn’t struggle as much. I actually thought Tanev was having some skating issues. The ice there sucks.
