The bump back on he PP is something many teams, including the flames, have used with success. It’s a great move to counter the D on a PP and gain zone entry. Works well with a shifty guy like Johnny. But I don’t like relying on it every time and it doesn’t work if the puck carrier can’t maintain possession across the blue line and then dish it off to an open man.

And he's the only one on that panel to play in the NHL the last 2 decades. He's a bit of an ass at times but he is articulate and avoids the cliches and lazy analysis.

Johnny needs to just settle down and get back to creating chances - don't turn it over but stay confident just make sure. Same with Monahan.
Be smart boys! Skate and compete.

We're just definitely spoiled by hearing Ball so often

Im not bothered by it either. Flames are playing like garbage. Besides, any tandem is better than last weeks combo.

I feel like the whole first intermission was all about Flames until it was Burkie's farewell. And the play-by-play has acknowledged the Flames when there was something to acknowledge. The Canucks had been largely dominating the game.

If you like listening to 14 years olds on call of duty I guess you would probably like his personality. I'm surprised he isn't drinking monster energy on set

Of course Ward does the opposite.

Average even strength TOI this season:
1. Noah Hanifin 18:23
2. Chris Tanev 17:16
3. Rasmus Andersson 16:21
4. Mark Giordano 15:51
Hmm.

I know it's all aboard the Ward sucks wagon right now, but for the PP complaints, he doesn't run it or implement the system. If I'm not mistaken that's Ray Edwards.

Oh? He was first star? My bad.
He’s not good anymore. 3rd pairing guy playing second pairing minutes.
I love the guy. Always have. But he is a shell
Of his former (2018-19) self. It happens. He’s slow.

Sorry this is a real gear grinder for me. Definitely takes away from the game.

My only issue is they don't seem to acknowledge the Canucks penalties. Specifically the Edler elbow.
When Dube got a bizarre unsportsmanlike penalty they could have inquired about what happened, but they didn't care. I just want to know what happened. I assume Dube went full Bull Durham.
The call of the game has been pretty fair. Flames have sucked and not done anything worth talking about. When Bennett scored Debrusk gave him some love for a few minutes.

You're embarrassing yourself with this endless defense of Ward and his AHL systems. This is a team that spends more time moving the puck backwards than forwards. They struggle offensively because these guys are built to exploit the transition game and odd man rushes, but they've obviously been told to move the puck back to the defensemen to set up the rush. All that does is let the opposition get into defensive position and let the crappy breakout end up in turnover after turnover. Ward is out of his element and doesn't make adjustments. Jesus, if Johnny is a turnover machine, then stop using the ####ing drop pass to him where he's expected to carry the puck into the zone. I know, rocket surgery.

The bump back only works if executed with pace.
The lead guy is supposed to skate with pace to push the dmen back and then when the second guy comes in he’s supposed to be flying catching the dmen flat footed.
It’s only an issue because the Flames are trying to execute it at a stand still.
I’m not a fan of this coaching staff but that one is all execution.
