Thats a plugged in, astute hockey man if ever there was one.

All you need is a Gretzky and a Messier and the cups will just be rolling in!

Ron's hockey intelligence is lower than an average 10-year-old.

Someone should inform him that the 80s are over and things have changed. Or not. I dont care either way.

I like seeing an Alberta boy going on to such national fame..but I'll personally never get over him wearing that half-Oilers, half-Riders jersey he wore at one of those cheesy Hometown Hockey events. Just. Gross.

I understand Tamara is hurting, so no offense to her, but that is pretty much the way it happens to most people who are let go, unless you blatantly do something that you know is going to get you in trouble.

But pretty much anyone that I know who is laid off, it blindsides them. I worked for a company that signed me up for a $1,200 conference two days before coming into work and being one of several people let go. Somebody knew something before hand, but companies always act normal until the time comes. They simply don't want people acting out in negative ways by slow burning them.

Especially when the job is in full view of the public or you have access to client information. I can imagine how entertaining the last 2 weeks of radio and TV would be if they were all given 2 weeks notice.

She is right though, it's bad for mental health. Job pressure and lack of job security is probably one of the main reason why it seems like most adults I know are on anti-depressants and can't sleep without a drug ending with 'pam'.

Ron Maclean is Jay Leno at this point. Not good at his job but there because he was willing to backstab others for it

Him throwing his lifelong friend Don Cherry under the bus when he was right next to him giving a thumbs up during his comments turned a lot of people against him

Also, "Good Riddance" doesn't appear anywhere in the lyrics of the song.

Yeah, the lyrics of the song are clearly appropriate as a nice goodbye/farewell song. I always figured because they were a punk band they just named it Good Riddance ironically. But just now I googled for fun and found out that not only was it originally an angry song directed at his girlfriend, but that it could have been on dookie, but the producer didn't see a fit yet.

Dookie is already one of the best albums of all time, imagine it with that monster anthem as well?

Billie Joe Armstrong wrote "Good Riddance (Time of Your Life)" in 1993 about his girlfriend named Amanda who moved to Ecuador, with him naming the song "Good Riddance" to show his anger towards her. He did not show the song to his bandmates until the Dookie recording sessions later the same year.[7] During the sessions, however, the song was determined to be too different from the rest of the songs on Dookie, and producer Rob Cavallo was unsure of how to structure the recording

It's funny why some huge hits get left off albums. Appetite for Destruction was supposed to have November Rain on it, which would have been monstrous on an already enormous album, but it was left off because at the time it wasn't kosher for rock band to have twp ballads on an album.

So with Patience already on there, November Rain got the boot.

I appreciate the fact that you speak about one of the best songs of our generation with reverence.

On the other hand, Good Riddance and November Rain took on huge string based, larger than life personas as singles. Both may have been more subdued and not as good if they fit the edgier, angsty themes of Appetite and Dookie.

Patience was on Lies, not Appetite.

Yep, it was used at every single grad/retirement/goodbye ceremony for like 3 years straight when it came out, lol. Such a great song.

Ahh, I must be misremembering, but I definitely remember there was a ballady song that kept it off Appetite. Back to google!

edit: Oh wow, they actually considered Sweet Child of Mine to be the ballad of the album, lol, but I was right that it was not having a second ballad that kept it off.
Quote:
It is said that the reason for not putting "November Rain" on it was because they had already agreed to put "Sweet Child 'O Mine" on it and thus already had a ballad on the album (however, both Use Your Illusion albums would contain more than one ballad

Such a dumb society we live in that Don Cherry was fired for his Remembrance Day comments.

I get that he was too stubborn to apologize but still...

Wait, what? That's even less relevant than my 90's rockstar musings and Cecil's "G n R sucks" comment.

Not surprised that you think this and also not surprised by the list of people who thanked it.

Each to their own of course.

Hey Flip, you know who sucks? NIN, that's who.

The above comment was meant lightheartedly.
