First of all, I really did like the Blasty jersey's with the revamped highlights and the pants. For some reason it gives me a very German Elite League feeling and I did it.
Second on Twitter Staples kinda turned against Draisaitl and how much he's not producing at even strength and milking off of the powerplay. He has something like 2 high danger scoring chances at 5v5 this season if I read his post right.
Oh and he hugely turned against Koskinen after hyping him to the stars earlier this year.

Eric Francis just called McAvi and Raisaitl "the two best players in the world." What the hell is this nonsense?

I'll allow it.
Pumping up our rivals stars just adds pressure to them. Remember when Jagr (as a Flame) said McDavid will score 100 goals?
It just adds that little bit extra to the narrative when you have the two best players in the world and you still miss the playoffs.

McDavid to me is the best player on the planet. No one can do what he does at his speed. Second place is Nate Mackinnon. I think Mackinnon has the edge on McDavid in the “compete” column, but McDavids speed and ability to make moves at such high speed is incredible and gives Connor the advantage. Leon Draisaitl gets tons of points, but I wouldn’t call him the second best player on earth.

I would say that MacKinnon is a smarter player than McAvi, but that McAvi's physical skills are better. Given the choice between the two with everything else being equal I think I would choose MacKinnon. He looks like a player who elevates everyone else around him. McAvi does not.

I mean, they are the most selfish players on earth. 6 minute shifts to end the game? Come on guys.
If they were truly the two best players on Earth I think they would have made the playoffs more than once.

I was wondering about this at the time of the game: was it Tippet's decision to leave the "wundertwinner" on the ice for the final 6 mins of the game? Or, was that all McAvi and Raisaitl doing whatever the hell they wanted?

To me McAvi vs Mack reminds me of Ovi vs Crosby back in the day. One might be flashier, can dominate you offensively, whereas the other is a more well-rounded player that you can trust to be out there up or down a goal at the end of the game. Took Ovi a few years to adapt and learn what it takes to win a championship, just like I think McAvi has to if he wants to have any sort of team success.

“Compete” is why McAvi is clearly NOT the best player in the world. He doesn’t have enough to be considered.
His compete level when he doesn’t have the puck is nearly non existent, and maybe there only half the time (at best) when he does have it.

This. The guy is likely the fastest player to ever play the game and he seems to only use that speed in one direction and only when he has the puck. Gaudreau is not going to win a selke but we’ve seen him bust his but to get back and break up a play to save a scoring chance against the flames multiple times - especially in the last few years. He did it just the other night and was rewarded with a goal for it.
I don’t watch every Oilers game but I’ve seen enough of them and I watch hockey highlights every night... and I don’t think I’ve ever seen McDavid use that crazy speed of his to backcheck and break up a play like that. And if he started doing that... he could be a force at both ends of the ice. No odd man rush would be safe. But he doesn’t. And I don’t think he ever will.
Of course he can play 27 minutes a game: he saves 98% of his energy exclusively for offence but spends half his time on ice in his own zone. Imagine the kind of player he could be if actually spent half his energy and all of his speed to get the puck back/keep the puck out of his net.

I have a question. Where did "McAvi" come from? I like it, just don't know the origin. Am I the only one? Thanks.
