I think the Flames already crossed the point of no return when they moved him to skating with the taxi squad. That action had to have been done to distance him from the team, so I don’t think we should be playing him anymore.

I'd rather take a bag of slightly used pucks than Pierre Engvall or Travis Dermott.

We've got enough young guys waiting for their shot on the farm/taxi squad than to waste Bennett on one of those plugs.

Two things:

1) Lucic has said he doesn’t want to go to Vancouver. The fans are dangerous

2) sweetener? For what, a sour turd sandwich? This is like the old days when so many people were throwing Stajan and Brouwer into their trade proposals

The only way to get rid of Lucic is if he retires, he almost did retire before so the Flames need to find out why and make it happen.

I still think this is the perfect time for a rebuild, fans aren't allowed in the stands so ticket sales won't go down, its a crazy cap world and teams would probably pay a premium to get rid of some players/contracts, the team is junk anyway, they have a crap coach under contract who won't win anything, they have some good pieces to trade and still have some solid 0oaye4s to keep and build around.

I doubt that Lucic came anywhere close to retiring. What he may have said in the heat of frustration is likely worth very little of his true feelings.

The Leafs would either have to give up Justin Holl or Alex Kerfoot to get Bennett and not sure Dubas will do that.

It's a bad time to start a rebuild, but it's a good time to be in a rebuild.

Rebuilding teams have cap space and can really leverage their positions against other teams.

It evens out.
