Oliver Kylington was (allegedly) sought after by the Canucks when the Flames approached them about Alexander Edler two seasons ago.

Reason: update, it was actually two years ago.

This Canucks writer thinks it could cost upwards of Virtanen and Gaudette for Bennett. Despite how hilarious it would be to add 2 more Canucks to our roster getting both of those players for Bennett would be intriguing. Send Ryan to the taxi squad. 2 right hand shots and no quarantine

I think this would be a great swap for the Flames. Bennett > Virtanen because of his playoffs but they're similar players. Gaudette was over 0.5ppg last year

If the Laffs want Bennett I'd go after Korshkov. Try to swing Kylington for Liljgren
And that Der-Argunchintsev too.

I really wish we made a deal around Kapanen and Bennett when we had the chance but hindsight is 20/20.

Bennett for Gaudette would be a good trade, never mind Gaudette AND Virtanen. Gaudette was a pretty highly touted guy coming out of college, and he still has room to grow. He's only been pro for a few years, despite being 24. He was known for playing a bit of a power forward game too. Add Virtanen, and you have a home-run trade. I would even add a pick to make it happen.

Rumor: Vancouver Canucks & Calgary Flames Discussing Trade
There's a Steep Price To Pay For Sam Bennett
Quote:
Sartaaj Bhullar of The Hockey Writers has outlined two possible trade scenarios. Bhullar believes that to acquire Bennett from the Flames, the Canucks would have to give up Jake Virtanen and Adam Gaudette. In the alternative, only one of these players will be offered along with a draft pick. One could assume that the draft pick would be a second or third round selection.

Gaudette+virtanen sounds good to me. Best offer I've seen suggested by a pundit so far.

Bennett will be a part of a bigger trade.

They've both done Jack Squat this year, but there's plenty of guys on that team with problems right now. I could see both benefitting from a move.

Probably yeah. Neither of them move the needle much though but I guess you can say the same about Bennett, except in the playoffs.

All due respect, but I don't think it's necessarily fair to say the two players in question "don't move the needle much". Gaudette had 33pts in 59 games last year, Virtanen had 36 in 69. That's not bad for a couple of bottom 6 players, even though their play this year is indefensible. Pretty good trade for a player that's asked for a move, and hasn't seen that type of production in his entire career. It's all moot though, as it only rumors and conjecture at this point.

He wasn’t much interest to them recently when he went unclaimed on waivers.

If that deal is on the table you take it and run. You get a better version of Bennett in Virtanen and then you get a youngish center as a bonus that adds depth at an important position. Both players are right shots as well, which is a huge need for the Flames. I'd be willing to throw them Kylington too to make the deal work. If that is on the table Treliving needs to take it and get this team headed in the right direction. That would be a great return for 4th liner.
If Dim Jim is really considering this, maybe its time to dangle Lucic. He's always wanted him, so maybe he can been added as a sweetener? But to make salary work they have to send us a similar contract, like Boesner. We'd be willing to swallow the difference only because of the age difference. Come on Dim Jim, you know you want to do it! Bring the local boy home!
