What happened to him anyway? Haven’t seen him on TV for years now.

But you saw right through that ruse and did anyway?

(Kidding, as I know you would never do that, and it would be repugnant)

Lol. He was really nice to me as I recognized him first before Jennifer. He said that was rare as everyone always recognized her first. He chatted with me much more than Jennifer did. So if I was gonna spit in anyone’s food, it’d be hers. Lol.

I met him when he was a VP at bank of Montreal at one point and he might still be there.

He should just take some time off of social media and relax and contemplate his situation. He is obviously not in a good place right now and in my opinion he is making himself look bad.

Yeah, he's probably going to regret this.

It's always seemed gimmicky to me too. As if any of these billion dollar companies actually give a **** about the causes they promote. Just a marketing ploy to make themselves look good and make more money.

He might, but I dont think theres anything wrong or unexpected about being bitter about being fired.

Unless they paid him r he signed something meaning he has to STFU then I think its fair game.

Sure, it might affect his ability to find another job down the road, but he probably knows that.

For sure this is natural and it is not unexpected to have some bitterness after being let go. But the last part is the key, if he expects to be back in front of the camera elsewhere or in some other prominent role his outbursts could be a major black mark. As a public figure, maybe even a celebrity, he has an image that he has to establish and upkeep. Now is his opportunity to showcase himself and he is looking awful.

Why would he regret this? Because he’s saying what everyone already knows?

Ooh but Rogers might see it and what? Be afraid that he’s gonna bash them for being ####ty? They don’t care. He’s not that influential. If they want him, it’ll be for the ratings he brings.

I was expecting something actually controversial like bashing his coworkers or producer.

This is just him talking like the rest of us already do.

Strictly speaking he wasn't working for BMO, but for Monaris, which is owned by RBC and BMO, and is still there.

To be honest though, maybe he's shining a light onto Bell in his tweets. They promote all this mental health awareness for a single day but you see numerous reports that they don't actually follow through with them with their own staff.

I hate the campaign that Bell runs, it doesn't really raise awareness for mental health - it gives people an easy out with the satisfaction of tweeting out the hashtag and calling it a day instead of working towards removing the stigma around it which is a year round battle.

And although many of the employees applaud Bell's mental health program, they say it's ironic that so many of the company's employees are suffering physically and mentally from pressure "created by the top, down."

I love this from O'Toole.

Why shouldn't he do this? He's had a crazy last six months.

Yes I knew that I was remembering closely but not close enough. Thank you! It has been a few years!

I agree on the principle, but taking public pot shots at a former employer is not a great look. And while everyone bites their tongues on Bell and its sincerity every January/February, there are positive fallouts from the day that shouldn't be discounted simply based on that principle.

Speaking personally, I've been screwed over by a two-faced organization with an extreme lack of ethics. As good as it felt to post something immediately following, years later I kind of regret saying anything at all (even though I will always believe I was in the right). Just not the legacy memory I want after that time in my life and I'm glad I've - mostly - moved on.

It also doesn't help that this adds to the existing smoke around O'Toole's stability which may factor into future employment. Either way, I hope everything turns out alright for him.

It would be kinda awesome if he started a trend with a hashtag bashing Bell. Hashtags and companies creating slogans just to put their name for marketing and PR purposes are so inauthentic and rampant. When their employees kiss butt and push their bs initiatives it's even worse.

When he had the original breakdown with his kid, that was ridiculous and I criticized him for it, but this series of tweets was wholeheartedly worthwhile. It's a BS initiative and he's experienced the cold side of the corporate world. Why can't he speak his mind and not be a schmuck like so many others putting their tail between their legs and shutting up? He gets bonus points for this in my mind.

The hypocrisy of some of these things is hilarious. Posters get ripped for making comments about female sportscasters’ looks when it’s obvious their appearance plays a huge part in their hiring (applies to men as well). There was a SportsCentre not long ago when Lindsay Hamilton was filling in for Dan. She did the “walk” from the desk to the set with the chairs. Her very short skirt was gorgeous. Her walk was breathtaking. I wound the PVR back and slowed things down. When she sat down her beautiful legs were on full display and to pick up the words of an earlier post from that point I didn’t hear a word she said. But I try to remember her her for knowledge of sports, on air demeanour etc. But I really can’t you know. Hmm, whose fault is that?
