[Rumour] Brooks: Rangers could have Tony DeAngelo trade partner in Flames

Let's just pretend for one second that DeAngelo didn't say all that racist and homophobic slurs. Let's pretend that he has no respect for the game and got suspended for abuse of officials.


How about the Flames just say no to the trade because he sure seems like a locker room problem. Now, I am not privy to what goes on in the locker room, but considering that the players had a closed-door meeting, and then continue to put in games like we just saw, makes me think that the locker room just isn't strong enough to absorb a character like DeAngelo.


I would not want to support a team that knowingly brings someone like DeAngelo into it and pays for his services, and by default becomes one of the team's ambassadors. I also don't want the team I cheer for to create an unnecessary locker room issue that distracts the entire team when finding any consistency in their games hard to do as it is.


I am going to trust the local insiders that have already stated that Calgary has zero interest in DeAngelo, and go to sleep upset with only the loss tonight, rather than what Brooks makes me dread will happen.

Honestly, the very fact that this... stuff (trying to be as non-confrontational as I can be) has now come up AGAIN in a separate thread about this guy is enough for me to hope that we stay far far away. Actually, just the fact that it came up the first time was enough for me. If rumors and hearsay are enough to be so divisive on a forum, I can't imagine it stays out of the locker room.

As for the hockey side of it, I feel that Bennett is going to develop and is going to be a much better player elsewhere than here, which is going to make me sad. Unfortunately, it just doesn't look like he's going to be able to succeed here regardless.

Sounds more like wishful thinking on the Rangers part than the Flames, to be honest. The Rangers probably called up Tre and asked if he'd be interested in trading DeAngelo for Bennett.
