There is no room for "opinion" or "debate" when it comes to the existence of COVID-19. It is not a political topic. It is a matter of choosing facts or disinformation.
DeAngelo chose to spout that nonsense to his large Twitter audience. There is no defending that.

They fired Bill Peters a little over a calendar year ago.
They’re not bringing this clown in, especially for Bennett.

but to the The Boy Wonder's point, its a free world, he can like whatever he wants on social media and have an opinion... its more of him being a fit in the locker room, causing issues, keeping his opinions more to himself...
If all that works, why not? We are acquiring a hockey player to help our mediocre hockey team, not hiring a politician.

Not wanting to get political, but when you spread disinformation about the virus, you make the situation worse.

Hockey players are public figures and are often looked up to by kids (rightly or wrongly) as role models.
You can't willingly add this guy to your hockey team.

Well, that's where we're gonna run into problems. Because DeAngelo has emulated his dear leader and called COVID a hoax. And that's a blatant lie, straight-up.

Or it's like Iginla for Schenn or Iginla for Peca, or many of the other rumoured trades for Iginla that floated around and never happened.
In fact, for about the last five years Iginla was in Calgary, didn't Brooks seem to have an annual piece about some trade that was going to send Iginla to the Rangers?

It's Brooksy. There's nothing behind this but his speculation, and hope to get out of that contract that the Rangers have to eat. This is just to give hope to New Yorkers, and not really based in reality. Tre is not this stupid.

If the Flames want to build a viable business around their hockey team, they would be smart to avoid bringing in somebody whose very presence would result in the alienation of a large part of the fanbase.
I would stop going to games and I would be harshly critical of the team as long as DeAngelo were to remain a Flame and the people responsible for his acquisition remained employed by the team. I also have the right to exercise that form of speech.
I think the Flames would find that I am far from alone in believing that. There would be mass revolt among fans. That's just bad business.

My concern with this guy (in addition to the fact that one incident involved racism) is that he keeps having these infractions against his own teammates. I would imagine the Rangers didn't just waive him based on one incident either, there must've been a few things that have added up over time. Lots of red flags here.

And on what ####ing planet are facts and science political? How did this even become a thing?
DeAngelo and every other piece of #### covid denier is a danger to society. I don’t care if it’s a like, a retweet or a post on CP. if you deny covid science you are a dumb ass piece of #### and deserve to be shunned for the moronic waste of a human that you are.

The only way I'd be happy with that trade is if it was Bennett + Lucic for DeAngelo + something significantish like a 1st.
Then tell DeAngelo to pound sand and await his buyout in the offseason

Yeah I could care less what Deangelo posts on social media. But the guy seems like an a hole in the lockeroom, Tre must be feeling pretty desperate is he's willing to bring him in.

That depends how big a portion of the fan base you think would leave. Hint: it’s smaller than you would like to think.
I hate to say it but there is a silent majority who truly do not give a single #### about someone’s retweets on Twitter or their opinions on social media and will still go to hockey games regardless

I’ve not had a signature in some time but tracking the covid deniers and trumpers for everyone to see so we can avoid them like lepers might be a good reason for it to return.
