Are we sure Ward is watching the right game on his silly little monitor?

Because he can’t be watching the same ones I’ve been watching

Flames doing a great job of protecting this two goal lead for the Jets.

With this core.. typically, I would say at least we will see big changes in the off-season if they continue to suck.

Except this lame GM continues to put out the same core every year and continues to keep his job.

A few, to Mony. It's not like he can connect a pass to Simon or Nordstrom. He is good but he isn't a miracle worker.

It is what it is. Try and battle it out with the Oil for the fourth playoff spot.

What do your eyes tell you?
Exactly what I said.

Very few , if any, key players are willing to pay the price and be positive difference makers.
Their top 4 forwards have been invisible...except when they’re “ bailing out”.

Players need to be better but coaches can at least try to put them in a position to succeed.

You are already missing Ryan, staple two of Lucic, Nordstrom, or Leivo to the bench and shorten your bench in the third.

Nope, instead we will keep cycling those bottom 6ers through the lines and causing weird lines like Nordstrom on the top line.

Backlund playing the worst hockey of his career right now. Something must be wrong off the ice.

No doubts ward is a good x and o guy, but this team leaves you screaming for more effort and give a crap and he just may not be the guy to do it. Might be why he has been a valued assistant/associate for so long.
Had the same idea about Torts the other day. Also made me think about why an experienced coach was important. Experienced coaches know how to handle a lot of situations that an unproven coach just doesn't know except through trial and error; Even then that coach may still not get it.

Guys like Torts and Sutter know how to motivate players to play over the top and bring results consistently, New coaches may have some skills be great x and o's guys but if they can't motivate or get more out of the players they won't get the results needed to go all the way.

I’m not advocating a trade, I’m not saying to blow it up, but maybe we should all just accept that our core is mediocre and inconsistent. We don’t know what we’re getting every night.

We’ve also seen huge decreases in quality from some veteran depth guys like Backlund. I think we need to adjust our expectations.

It’s still early, but nothing that’s happening is surprising anymore. They’re a bubble team.
Fair points.

He’s only a few months off of being 32. It’s not uncommon to see a decline in play around this age. Plus he’s a dad now and that takes a toll on you too.

Side note: when did Backlund get so old? I still view him as a young guy.
