Something Tortorella said stuck with me during his Dubois redemption tour. That he lets the assistant coaches handle X's and O's, his job is to understand the team and the players and get the most out of them.
No doubts ward is a good x and o guy, but this team leaves you screaming for more effort and give a crap and he just may not be the guy to do it. Might be why he has been a valued assistant/associate for so long.

I'm giving the owners a pass as we have a new arena in the works and credit them for that but ya some of Tre's decisions are very questionable.

I disagree. A player like that is a disruptive element. Things don’t go exactly to plan when he’s in the forecheck.

I agree. I have zero doubt that Ward is a good coach. But as a head coach, still pretty green.
Mentioned it earlier but I think the best thing this team could do right now is hire a veteran associate coach to help him out

Even then he'd only had two seasons as a head coach under his belt. Teams wanted to get him after NJ performed well, but he was still a largely inexperienced head coach at the NHL level whose stock just happened to have risen quickly at the time.

Kind of disappointing that none of Simon, Leivo, or Nordstrom have amounted to anything. I was hoping one of those guys would seize the opportunity.

The fact Nordstrom is riding shotgun on that RW while Bennett is eating popcorn is inexcusable by the coach.
