I think it's more that Jake Virtanen straight across isn't going to get it done and I'm glad for that.
I wouldn't be surprised if Treliving aimed really high and said that's the premium to make a trade within the division. The guy that fits in my mind is Boesner, which should be an automatic hard no.

Except it wouldn't be fun. This place is already toxic. I would turn off the internets for a few days.
All we can do to fight toxic elements is post more rationally, logically, and light heartedly. Shutting off doesnt achieve that.
That being said, there is always going to be discord here. There is a weird function of the internet that is similar to Public hearings and town halls- those motivated to show up are almost always the most emotional / opposed to the project. The people in favor in a public hearing almost never show up- why do they need to? They like the project.
The same thing happens here. I do it myself. When the flames are winning I post less, there is less to say. When things are mediocre I post more- there's more to dig into and discuss.
I agree with you often but in this case I disagreee- the place isn't toxic, but there are always people who will act toxic. All we can do as non-mod members of the board is try to be reasonable in what we post ourselves, point out toxic behavior, but also realize that opposing viewpoints arent toxic.
I don't believe that they would trade for DeAngelo, but if they did, I would be starting a full on letter writing campaign to the team to tell them how I feel about that atrocious decision.

DeAngelo wouldnt make sense. We dont have the cap space. And where would he even slot in anyways? If Gio plays less minutes then I think we already have a strong top 6 with guys in the taxi squad knocking on the door.
When Bennett gets moved it will be for a forward.
The Rangers could easily retain 50% on DeAngelo and then a Bennett swap would be pretty close to a wash cap wise.
I don't think they'll trade for Tony DeAngelo, but watching the melt down here would be epic.

Just had an interesting chat with.. someone.... No verification, but don't be surprised if a trade is announced AFTER the game tonight. Reason for waiting: Already enough of a distraction in the room, Bennett is liked enough by players could make the game worse than it will be...

No confirmation on this at ALL, however, the person I talk with about the Flames is generally right, so we'll see....
Well that seals it! He’s going to Winnipeg for picks!
I am completely ready for the Flames to move on from Sam Bennett.
They should have traded him in the off season after a strong playoffs and when teams had more flexibility IMO.
Had huge hopes for him because of his skill level, his draft pedigree and the way he started out his career. Because of those things he is a colossal disappointment in my eyes, and him busting into a bottom six winger (instead of the top line #1C he was supposed to be) is one of the biggest reasons this team continues to be the pathetically mediocre turd nugget that it's been for 30 years.

In those 2 minutes were any of your list of penalties called?
No of course not. I love playoff Bennett. I was just highlighting the point that the whistles get put away in the playoffs.
I know I'm not adding anything to the discussion but the difference in the rules enforcement between those clips and Tuesdays game is stark.
I'm all for trading Bennett, but if the return is close to that god awful fake MTL trade we should just keep him as a self rental for the season/playoffs and not qualify him in the summer.

I was suggesting where does that kind of play come from during playoffs if Bennett is not in the lineup.
