Why would we trade for DeAngelo when he's on waivers?

When Jankowski and Bennett were scratched last season, word got out they were unhappy in Calgary.

If that's the case then maybe we will see some changes.

I dont believe Bennett has ever been healthy scratched before.....anyone?
Its something that should have happened at times over the last 5 years, but the timing of this one seems odd. Well he should have been sent down but that ship has sailed.
See what the club looks like....could be a good thing. Certainly cant hurt that much.
Other guys that could use a night in he press box too.

Yes, because Bennett has been such a wrecking ball out there so far this season. What are we going to do without the guy with the 94th most hits per 60 minutes played, or more importantly, two hits per game?

what?
You said if he's scratched and it isn't because of a trade, it is indefensible.
It's right there for everyone to see. Now you're trying to say that's not what it says?
It could be a million non-trade related things and be entirely defensible.
Maybe he's slacking in practice. Maybe he's not taking COVID protocols seriously. Maybe he has the stomach flu. Maybe he's not good in the room. None of those are trade related and according to you, every one of them are indefensible as reasons to scratch him.

There are a lot of players who hit and are physical but also have a semblance of hockey IQ and defensive awareness. They also might be able to beat 12 points in a season.
That would be an upgrade on Sam Bennett.

No, the same posters who say that now will still say it then.
Also, what physicality does Benny bring? He's invisible out there most of the time. If he's our version of size and toughness, we have a serious problem.

Ward doesn't use the pressbox like he should IMO. Lucic, Bennett, Nordstrom, Simon, and Leivo should all have time on popcorn alley. Backlund and Eat Bread could fall into this category too. Sometimes a night out of the lineup can really wake you up out of some complacent play.

Sam Bennett and Johnny Gaudreau have the exact same amount of playoff points in the exact same amount of games played. With considerably less ice time.
When was Bennett given a fair shake aside from a couple shifts on a top line mid game to be pulled back right after. I am very confident this will go down as one of the most mismanaged prospects in our teams history. He will get a fair chance elsewhere and run with it.

It can't look good on management if the Flames turn up too soft or not motivated for playoffs..

So many people on this board wanted Bennett to pan out so badly that they're completely delusional when it comes to his importance and effectiveness.

Essentially a way to buyout Lucic.

I think NYR would just buy him out. Because of his age it’s really cheap to buy out.

NHL teams like trading a contract for a contract. Wishing thinking, but offloading the Lucic contract prior to the NMC kicking in would be ideal and makes more sense for teams than simply picking up the player off waivers. Leverage the fact that NYR is currently stuck with a player and contract they don't like.
