Once the actual post-season started the efficacy dropped. But the reality was it was all Dube. We said that as that series played on and then again in the post-mortem. There were more than a few of us that were concerned the minute Dube was taken off that line the success would dry up and regular Sam Bennett would return. Funny thing, you remove Dube and replace him with Nordstrom and that line is worse than anything we've seen from any 4th line. Dube has proven to be the player. Sam Bennett is what he is. I wish people would stop trying to create something he isn't.

Disagree. No one is making Bennett out to be a potential superstar. I am saying he has the potential to be a solid third liner and that he elevates his game in the playoffs and shows flashes of being really good and effective when playoffs roll around. Neither of those statements are controversial or outlandish.
And when the three of them were together last year for that short stretch, Bennett Lucic and Dube were dynamite. Who cares if it was Dube stirring the drink on that line? Those three showed great chemistry, and all contributed and were a super strong line. Why not try it again and see if it can continue? You were maximizing the performance of all three, especially Lucic and Bennett.

There are plenty on this site who make out Bennett's PO performance to be something like elite (or at least "electric").
And no, I am not sure you are maximizing Dube's performance by putting him with Lucic and Bennett. I continue to think he's the best replacement for Lindholm on the Monahan line.

What the hell do you want Sam?
Try playing better and seeing where that takes you before piling it on this illusion of the team restricting you.

How are you coming to this conclusion?
Ward said he asked Sam. Not that Sam asked him.

Sam clearly thought that he was going to get motivated Lucic and Dube, but instead got slow Lucic and an assistant equipment manager.
Given the option of playing with mangiapane and Backlund, I'd say wing too.

This is an exaggeration.

No, this line would most likely be maximizing the performance of Lucic and Bennett at the expense of Dube, who I would much prefer to be playing with better players.

Ward said Bennett requested to be moved back to the wing. So the whole he wants to play in the middle but is not getting a chance narrative is bunk.

I’m guessing he would rather play third line wing with Backlund and Mangiapane over 4th line center with Lucic and Nordstrom/Ryan.

Before they trade Bennett, can they just put him on the first two lines RW for 10 games first and see if he can produce?
Put him on either Lindholm or Monahan's RW for 10 games. If he puts up at least 5 points, keep him there for another 10 games.
Just give him some consistency to succeed. He's this organizations highest draft pick ever, just give him the longer leash. Plant his ass in the top 6 for a decent sample and see what happens. You aren't getting production from your other options anyways.
It's not like Leivo, Simon and Mangiapane are putting up the points in those spots.
Just give him 10 games and go from there. If he fails to put up 5 points, you gave him the opportunity, he failed, and trade him or at least you can show him that he just isn't top 6 material and he can be happy being a glorified bottom 6 forward.
