Yeah, Tre backs up the truck and gives Simon 700 K
Gotta give him a good long look and make him earn that contract!
Imagine what James Neal is thinking up in Greaserville haha

These recent playoffs he centered Dube and Lucic and produced with little to no special teams. They stuck with him there thick and thin and he succeeded. Walking into the season all the talk from the Flames was Sam at Center and stability. Game 1, shuffled about.
Look, I'm not saying Bennett hasn't earned his misfortunes. But I think its fair to say that he has been thrown around every which way on this roster. And he's been good about it as a team player for the most part.
Right now, it seems to me that his ability to play anywhere in the line up while other players seemingly cannot has taken away any stability he has asked for or earned via the playoffs.
Call it confidence sapping. Because when they stick one place in the playoffs and show their confidence in him during that time, he thrives, functions like a top fix forward.
I dont know, like.others have said, Simon and Leivo eating top 6 minutes would piss me off too if I was Bennett with tenure.
They've done literally Jack squat. Oh and Mangiapane slots into the top line with zero effect and has had little to none all year gets spoon fed top six minutes.
If the coaches only had enough testicular fortitude to treat their other players like they did Bennett, perhaps we would have nobody play well.

Hell yes. Gaudreau has a 99 point season under his belt and is counted on
Bennett is a bottom 6er and wasn’t on the PP in the playoffs
They should have way different expectations

Lol, sure. It's probably going to be the same on the next team, because he is what he is, not a top line player. You going to continue to think this when he's still getting the same results elsewhere? The Bennet fanboyism by some is bordering on insanity. I've never seen more overvaluing of a middling 3rd line player. Do you stay up at night about how Paul Kruse was never given a fair shake on the first line?

@ DM.
Bottom line, whatever you see in him, I don’t see. And clearly multiple nhl coaches and multiple nhl GMs don’t see it either.
I see a guy that played great for like 10 games in his career and average for, what, 400?
He has no defining characteristics as a player. Not a good passer, doesn’t use his line mates well, doesn’t make them better, isn’t particularly tough (except last playoffs which we still lost), almost never fights, isn’t particularly physical (except last playoffs which we still lost), doesn’t kill penalties, isn’t smart, doesn’t have a great shot, doesn’t have good hands, isn’t a PP specialist, he’s not a scorer, he’s not a set up guy, he’s not a checker, he’s not a grinder. He is the literal definition of an nhl plug.
So what are you seeing here? Except defending him against false narratives. Build him up, post some stats, some observations about his skill set, anything! Just don’t repeat that he was gritty once in a playoff series and we need playoff warriors because clearly his amazing performance didn’t help us win.

Selling high right after the playoffs would have been ideal.

I totally understand it from Bennett’s perspective, and I really don’t know what this team’s end game is. Ever since the hiring of award, I’ve had a pit in my stomach and this has just made it grow, alongside the slow/typical emotionless Flames hockey.

It pains me to as I had high hopes for him after the playoffs. I felt he had climbed the mountain and was ready to take his game to the next level.
Bennet IMO has a confidence problem and his game is easily shaken when things don't go right for him. Just wonder if he's given up on the team too soon.
I believe Ward is trying to find a good fit for some of the new players. Ward is trying IMO to balance out the scoring so that we don't have all our talents on one or 2 lines. We could put Lindholm back with Johnny and Mony but that would make it easier for teams to defend against us.

I’m a Bennett lover.
But I can’t point to 1-3 things he’s done that had any impact so far this year.
He’s had chances to play up and that’s never been great. Maybe not enough opportunity for some. But I’d say Dube has shown more in the top six so far this year than Bennett ever did.
And I love Bennett. Such a warrior at times.
Sucks

Now that we're going to showcase him, might as well get him some quality minutes.
I wouldn't mind seeing this:
Gaudreau Monahan Mangiapane
Bennett Lindholm Dube
Tkachuk Backlund Simon
Lucic Ryan Leivo

The bar is so low for Sam in the regular season if he gets a scoring chance or two people say he played great

Sam Bennett being your best player in a playoff series doesn't mean Bennett is amazing. It means your real star players crapped the bed.

I’d argue Bennett benefited more from playing with Dube (and yes even Lucic) than the other way around.
That’s why Dube has a future with this team and has been rewarded with top 6 minutes. It’s also why Sam hasn’t.
Either that or Tre hates him and has it out for him and so do like 4 nhl coaches, assistants, plus the assistant GM, our meddling owners, KK etc.

Simon and Leivo got a look on the top line because they’re new and who knows what might gel. And with Simon at least the top line was playing well, by coincidence or otherwise.

What it means is the Sam Bennett was your best player in a playoff series.
And that does mean something.
Your words, not mine.

Simon has a history with Crosby which i'm guessing played a factor in his signing. Tonight he was the odd man out out with Dube back in. Gotta earn your spot in the lineup.

Sam Bennett has had 371 nhl regular season games
That’s 371 opportunities.
He’s had plenty of chances to earn more and move up the lineup

It means very little. I have no interest in watching him fumble the puck around and take dumb penalties for an entire season only to suddenly have the ability to hit the net more and throw checks for 3 games before golfing. There are guys who are going to have to get the Flames over the hump in the playoffs. Bennett isn't one of those guys.
