Trade him to the Oilers. We’d never have to worry about playing against him in the playoffs.

Good grief where would we have been without Bennett in the summer?

That's not saying much. The team lost in the first round.

If Sam Bennett was good enough to be a 1st liner, he’d be a 1st liner. Or 2nd liner. End of story.
For every 100 Sam Bennett types, who people think aren’t getting a fair chance after years of failed chances, roughly 1 goes on to succeed elsewhere. The other 99 are who we thought they were.

Yes, he hasn’t played with great players but, at no point, during the regular season has he really given a reason to move up in the lineup. Great players don’t stay on the fourth line because they show they deserve to move up.

What are they gonna show ? He has like 2 highlight worthy moments in his career.

Well, Simon and Leivo aren’t good enough to be NHL’ers, but they’re out there every night.
I’m definitely not thinking Bennett is some 1st line wow player, but the whole going external for spare parts to play them ahead of Bennett after what Bennett did in the playoffs was dumb in my eyes.
I hope it works out for both Benny and Calgary in the end.

I don't see a trade happening fast. Only a few teams where he'd be worth protecting in the expansion draft, and for all the other teams I don't see them giving up assets for someone just to expose him to Seattle

Lol totally. NHL coaches love suppressing talented players and minimizing their minutes. It’s not like they have an idea of what an elite NHL talent looks like.

That move Bennett just made might just have increased his trade value!

He was playing PP minutes tonight. Did you see anything that showed that he looked like he was more productive out there than a replacement level player?

If teams are looking for a player who misses the net regularly with open looks then he is their guy.

Lol, you can't be serious, did any of the following get tribute videos, Lance Bouma, Chris Clark, Shean Donovan, Micheal Ferland, Garnet Hathaway, Tim Jackman, Paul Kruse, David Moss, Eric Nystrom, Clarke Wilm?

The Flames are not traditionally a team that competes in the playoffs so Sam is not the best fit. Send him to a team that wants to win in the postseason and he will be fine. Maybe that team has a player that is better in the regular season than the playoffs that they can send back.

Btw, I don’t hate Bennett at all. I’ve watched him consistently hoping for him to show that he is more than a third/fourth liner. He seems like a legitimately good guy and I hope he takes that next step. It just has never happened with us.
