I hear stuff like "Bennett has no hockey IQ" - which I disagree with actually, and it shows often at both ends of the rink. However, for those that feel that Bennett doesn't think the game very well, just ask a Canuck fan about how Virtanen thinks the game, or what his commitment level is.


If the Flames are trading Bennett, I would much rather it be in a package for something good, rather than a 1for1 trade for something that you know just won't work out.

This would be preferred. However apart from us, who else takes a bunch of scrap and trades a good player? When we have posters saying Bennett’s value is a 3rd (which is probably not too far off), what else do you have to throw in to get something good back? We know teams have been interested in Bennett in the past but were lowballing. Bennett hasn’t popped to make those offers improve. So you are probably looking at a reclamation project for another reclamation project. If tre can get a decent player in a package, more power to him, but I don’t see other teams offering a lot back for Bennett unless the deal is sweetened considerably from our end.

In that case, an early season deal involving Konecny and Gaudreau would be really sweet. Doubt it would happen though.

Kevin Hayes would love to have his best friend on the team, and unlike other markets you’re not worried about Gaudreau only having 18 months left on his deal. He’s likely re-signing there the second it’s an option.

Gaudreau’s had a good start and looks more engaged this year but I truly think it’s a deal that could help both teams.

If you are trading Gaudreau for Konecny he better bring quite a bit to the team because if you subtract Johnny off the Flames roster so far this season, they are bad like Ottawa.

14m cap in. Less than 4 total years cost controlled vs. 6m Cap out and close to a decade of lost cost control? On top of a pick downgrade?

All you’re getting from Philly for Gaudreau is Voracek, picks and scrubs. No way are they moving Konecny or Patrick.
