Well I have never heard a team say "well we had to pick him, we tried to trade the pick but nobody wanted it so we picked this guy"

That's.... actually true too. But at the time the Flames had a young brodie, giordano, did they have Hamilton yet? I can't see them taking a d-man there, I guess.
