I’d expect lots of goals the first week of the season.
A shortened training camp and no pre-season games is going to mean lots of sloppy play and less attention to detail.
Don’t expect things to normalize until at least game 5.

With the Flames/Jackets rumours from this past summer being “something bigger” than just an Anderson trade...and knowing what we know about Dubois’ situation now, I wonder if we weren’t working on a Dubois/Anderson acquisition.

At first I was grumbling about the ‘as expected’ 3 point game for our divisional rivals, but you know what, the more loser points given out to teams not Edmonton is a good thing, to help that loser franchise miss the playoffs once again.

You can't read anything into the defensive play on day 1, especially with no pre-season. Remember in the 2005 opener when Calgary lost 6-3 to Minnesota? At the end of the season Calgary had the lowest goals against in the league and Kipper won the Vezina.

Another rule I want: you can never take the puck backwards in 3 on 3 OT. Once you cross a line, whether it be center ice or a blue line, you can't take the puck back across it.
