You seem like an awful person and the kind of fella I'd love to get to know.

Not only that but the chances of him transmitting Covid to his daughter are much higher now.

Maybe he is playing for the money this year. Doesn’t bother me any.

I respect Hamonic for being a warrior and putting his body on the line blocking shots, but I sure won't miss him giving up the blue line and backing up to the hash marks non stop.

Great teammate, will drop the gloves if need be, excellent in the community, 3rd pairing D that has been on the decline for 4 seasons. Wouldn’t be shocked if this is his last contract in the league.

Gotta think Trelivng has huge regrets on that trade.

Doubtful but I hope they pair him with Hughes. The sophomore slump articles will be written but it won’t be Quinn’s fault. Hamonic made Brodie the biggest whipping boy on this site 3 years ago and I think Hanifin will have his best year yet not having to be paired with Travis

Hockey is literally their lives. They make money from it. You think they do it to appease you?

He put his family ahead before, so why not now? I think that's the point of the OP.

He got paid regardless last year. This year he needs to play to get paid and if he skipped this year his playing career would have almost certainly been over in the NHL.

This is by far the most asinine comment i've seen to date. Just stop.

Plus, we basically knew way less about it then than now. With all we know now, his family probably has more of a handle on things and help has been arranged and such.

And ya, he really needs to work or his time is basically done.

getting paired with Hughes is a blessing for him then. All he literally has to do is fall back while QH skates the puck out of the zone lol.

I don't know why Hanifin's D partners gets blamed for his... deficiencies but Hanifin is a career minus player. 4 of his 5 seasons in the league he's been a minus player.

Yeah sure, it's easy to criticize in hindsight, but at that time most of us were trying to figure out our day-to-day with covid.

If anything I respect him for making a tough decision with the safety of his family in mind.

Everyone's a ***ing doctor during the pandemic.

It's as if death isn't the only long-term negative outcome of a COVID infection....especially for children who survive the cytokine surge but have an entire life left to live with their organs after the insult.

We get the excitement, we were there not long ago. Hamonic will be whipping boy in Vancouver in no time.

Hanifin has his own shortcomings, sure, but Hamonic had a knack for dragging players down here. It will likely continue in Vancouver. Just give it time.

Again, one of the key differences is that in the bubble he was going to have to be completely away from his family for some unknown and extended period of time. His family has been through a lot. Perhaps that wasn't the right thing for them.

You are looking at this from a very narrow perspective and assuming what the decision factors were. WE DO NOT KNOW.
