Canucks sign Hamonic (1 year, $1.25 million, NMC)
https://twitter.com/user/status/1349137663861788672
Should be interesting to see whether he gets any time with Hughes or Juolevi.

That’s a good deal for the Canucks. Hamonic is still a serviceable player.

What was the dollar figure that Flames were rumored to offer (earlier during the season)

I'd rather the Flames kept Hamonic at that figure, rather than signed Tanev to the Brouwer contract! Nothing against Tanev, but I think that contract was a bit of a lost opportunity.
PS: I know that there was no guarantee he would've signed here for that much.

Travis Hamonic: Sits out playoff bubble when making $0. Bubble comes with little covid risk
Travis Hamonic: Signs 1-year contract when making $1.25m. Regular season comes with higher Covid risk

Hamonic didn't work out here. He flat out sucked most of his time here, can't really remember anything good about his time here. Got rocked on his first shift and been downhill since. Soft in front of the net too and that was supposedly his strength.
We keep hearing he is a character guy in the room. That's probably all the Canucks get from him.
Little harsh, but to me he was as much of a disappointment as Brouwer was.

The contract would largely suggest this is about the money wouldn't it? He doesn't need 1.25M.
But grind that gear man. griiiiiinnnnnnnnnnnnd it!

Good guy but I definitely feel like Hammer is going to fight someone in that first game we play them.
Someone on the Flames will chirp him for opting to play now but not for our playoff run.

I doubt anyone chirps him for sitting out for family reasons.

I sure hope not, I like to think he is a friendly face for the guys in our room. Hopefully they wouldn't resort to cheap low-blow chirps like that. No room for that in this league.

That's a pretty low number for him imo. I feel like there was maybe some bad blood between the Flames and Hammer ? You would think that at that cap hit, the two sides would of got something done and Hammer wouldn't have to pack up and move again.

I was hoping for a bigger deal - more years and more dollars - both to hurt the Canucks a bit, and also because Hamonic seems like a great human being and does play his heart out.
However, I would not like him back at that money - or any money. I am curious to see if it was the system that he was trying to play in, or if it was just his overall ability. I thought he brought down those that played with him as well, which is why I wouldn't want him at any price.
However, I do think he had his moments and even stretches when he seemed quite effective. I will also applaud him for sticking up for his teammates without hesitation, and really seeming to put in a full effort every time. I am sure he will also be missed in the dressing room. Really love the person that Hamonic is, but not the player.
I will be watching with curiosity, but I think having Hamonic in your top 4 is a big mistake.

I know its a hockey forum, but I find it so odd that posters here think literally Hockey is life.
How dare he put his family ahead of his job! For Shame!

I dunno, I don't think they'll be any good but they might make it even without being good. The Canadian division is pretty weak.
Anyway this deal is third pairing money for a third pairing d-man, so... meh. Whatever.

Coming out of mini-camp we saw a lot of Schmidt and Edler and Juolevi and Myers. Read between the lines for what that means.

Yeah...he sure put his family ahead of hockey. I mean, look at all of these kids that died of Covid in AB. One of those zero kids that died might have been his.
I wonder if he also makes sure his kids never entered a vehicle, since its infinitely more dangerous than contracting covid.
