None of the other major sports do this. It makes the NHL look desperate and second-rate. Seems like enough owners are so anxious about short-term revenue that the league is willing to sacrifice credibility and brand.

I only ask that the sponsor names don't appear on the banners of the division winners.

Well everyone, welcome to another great night of hockey with the Scotiabank Stanley Cup Conference Finals brought to you by Rocket Mortgage - between the MassMutual East Conference Champions, the New York Islanders brought to you by the New York Port Authority, and the Scotiabank North Conference champions, the Scotiabank Calgary Flames, live from the beautiful Scotiabank Saddledome.

The funniest thing is I can just hear this rolling off of Ron McLean's tongue.

Spoiler alert. The NHL is desperate and second-rate when compared to the NHL, MLB and NBA.

Until there is a shortage of players looking to become NHLers maybe they should just pay them less? Salary is a huge portion of the cost. Maybe eventually by cutting that back, tickets will be affordable for normal people again? They've really dug themselves into this hole over the decades.

None of the other major sports leagues in North America depend on gate revenues as much as the NHL does. Honestly I don't understand why people are whining. I'm just happy there may be NHL hockey in 2021 given the circumstances as I simply don't know where the money is going to come from for the league to make ends meet. You know things are critical when the dinosaurs running the NHL are resorting to this kind of stuff.

To do this and not have a CondomDepot or PornHub division is very disappointing. If you're going to look second rate, at least look hilariously second rate.

Count me in the group that is just happy to have some hockey to watch soon. I don't really care what they call the division at the end of the day. It's not like the "North" division is some sacred thing that has been around for years.
