Korea to Japan, I can understand to an extent, in a way it's like comparing Germany to the Netherlands, or Spanish to Portuguese the gap isn't all that big for someone to notice.
But Filipino to Korea, that's crazy. It's like comparing French to Greek or something, they don't look the same, sound the same..........
I work with a lot of south Americans, Argentine, Columbian, Peruvian, Mexican, and it's pretty hard for me to pick out, all of those countries were melting pots themselves, so it would kind of like asking a non-english speaker to notice the difference between Americans and Canadians.
on Topic, the Jolibee food just looks like gross chef boyardee canned pasta to me, I have my doubts I'll ever try it. but I guess Filipinos like it, so to each their own.

Give me Korean fried chicken anytime. Walked into Jollibee once, saw the price and walked out. I could get a family meal at Yum Yum for the same price and have leftovers compared to Jollibee.

Love Yum Yum. Their meal prices are weird for a bigger guy. The meals only go up to 3 piece, and then after that you basically order a half (6 pieces) or full (12 pieces) chicken and then have to order everything else separate.
Most chicken places at least go up to 4, with many going to 5 and 6 piece meals. Also, their chicken is soooo good it's really a shame they don't aim higher than McCain crinkle cut in the oven for their fries. They're the only chicken place I've ever ordered chicken from and made fries at home because I can make them better.
*combination of lack of meal options for higher chicken piece count and quality

I blame my wife (Vietnamese) for putting the Asian adjective in front of everything, I find that SE Asians tend to just lump everything together but Koreans and Japanese definitely do not, as there's some strange hierarchy going on between the cultures. Vietnamese watch the crap out of Korean TV programming and you can see a lot of cultural influence in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh. And Korean soups are the bomb, I could eat spicy pork bone soup everyday
Back on topic, if you want good fried chicken go to Wow or Yum Yum. So much better than Popeyes or Jolibee

If I had to rank my “Asian” cuisine by favourite it would go something like this:
Japanese
Chinese/Thai
Vietnamese/Korean
Indian
Filipino

What the hell is all this, it’s the fried chicken celebration thread, not the “thinking of Filipino food makes me want to barf” thread
Back on topic. I’ve long had Wow at the top of my list solely on the strength of their boneless thighs (innovation that maximizes rate of chicken consumption) but after a few boxes of Ogam, it’s now co-leader at the very least. There’s a reason the name is just a couple letters away from orgasm. They need to expand westward and make access easier for hungry suburbanites.

Had the Popeye's Chicken Sandwich today for the first time. The chicken was very substantial, and still crunchy despite the car ride home. However, the three limp pickle slices at the bottom left a little to be desired.
Not sure I'd buy it again as I normally prefer just fried chicken itself, but I'd still give it 7.5/10.

To be fair the largest Filipino chain restaurant, which happens to be fried chicken restaurant, just made a major launch into the North American market.

most people are saying the Jollibee chicken isn't great, which is fine and on topic, but then it bled over into how gross the spaghetti is and how Filipino food in general is unappealing. criticizing Filipino cuisine based on Jollibee spaghetti is like saying Italian food is garbage, because you tried Pillsbury pizza pops and couldn't understand the appeal.
I don't touch the sweet spaghetti either, but it's like world war II rations food that just sort of persisted and carries a lot of nostalgia for people who grew up with it. if Jollibee wanted to sell an actual gateway dish for North Americans to dip their toes into, they should have gone with lechon (roasted pork belly) or lumpia (spring rolls), but then people might complain those aren't different enough from other Asian versions.

At the risk of being a pedant, I don't think it is very useful to compare "Chinese cuisine" to these other cuisines. It is just far older and far more varied than any other cultural cuisine on earth (other than the Indian sub-continent I suppose). It would probably make more sense to break it down to its eight "schools": Shandong, Jiangsu, Cantonese, Sichuan, Hunan, Fujian, Anhui and Zhejiang.
Back on topic, Sichuan mala chicken is the best (wok-)fried chicken.

McDonalds has a new chicken sandwich out to "compete" with Popeye's and KFC and such.
Don't bother trying it, it sucks.

Japanese and Koreans make great street food. I know it isn't "traditional", but they do it up nice. Any time I go to a park or festival where there are food trucks and kiosks, I gravitate to one of those two. They tend to be the most creative.

With respect to Popeyes chicken Sammie - I was stunned at how much better adding pickles to a chicken Sammie made the Sammie.
I never saw that coming.

The only legit "KFC" is Korean Friend Chicken and it kicks the ass of every western-style fried chicken that I've tried.
