We had 10 teams playing out of the same rinks in Edmonton and Toronto in the summer, and it worked fine.

Another (albeit slim) chance for a visiting team to win the cup on edmonton ice and #### up their dressing room?! I'll take it
I hope those two bunk up. Canucks would hate it too.

Basically its the CFL minus Saskatchewan.
A North division banner would be a cool addition to the rafters.

As a STH I’d like to see this as permanent. Good riddance Nashville, Minnesota, Anaheim, San Jose, Arizona, and Vegas. Bring on Montreal, Toronto, Ottawa, and Winnipeg. Hopefully we can have Quebec replace one of those loser franchises like Florida and we are all set.

Why? Do you consider the previous divisions to be inherent and fundamental to the prestige of winning the Stanley Cup?
The divisions have changed many times. Teams added, subtracted, expanded and folded
Just add another year of change to the list on how the league is structured. But why would that effect the merit of winning the championship?

Totally agree.
Some of those teams are just lousy crowd draws as well. Hard to get excited to go to a Tuesday night game against Nashville or Arizona.
To be fair, I am sure Calgary is a lousy crowd draw in certain regions as well.
The whole time zone and travel time issue would never let it happen permanently though.

This always irritates me to hear. Every team is in the same position and has the same circumstances. You learn, you adapt and you carry on just like in the bubble. If you don’t adapt, you won’t succeed.

The thing I like about the wildcards is that it helps to provide some balance in situations in which the teams in one division are dramatically better or worse than the other in the conference. It really sucks missing the playoffs while a significantly poorer team is there thanks to the divisional breakdown.

Like the 1987-88 season, you mean?
That year, all six teams in the Patrick Division had winning records. The Rangers and Penguins missed the playoffs with 82 and 81 points, respectively. (80-game season, no OTL points.) Meanwhile, six teams in the other divisions made the playoffs with losing records. The Maple Laughs got in with an incredibly paltry 52 points – one point ahead of dead last in the league.
Much as I love to hate the Oilers, I don't believe they deserve an asterisk on their 1988 Cup win.

Think I would of preferred if the first two playoff rounds were inter divisional so the final 2 rounds is the 4 division champions versus each other.

I think they're trying to keep Canada separate from the US through half the playoffs to not entangle border restrictions until it would come down to only one team coming and going.
I guess this is the year we could see a usual West-West or East-East team cup.

Solution: The Flanuckz
Tkachuk - Pettersen - Lindholm
Gaudreau - Monahan - Boeser
Bennett - Horvat - Miller
Pearson - Backlund - Mangiapane
Ryan, Virtanen, Lucic, Leivo
Giordano - Hughes
Andersson - Tanev
Hanifin - Edler
Valimaki, Meyers
Canada's greatest hope for the cup since Calgary technically maybe won it in '04.

Huh, what a surprise. The in her own mind "queen of BC" in all of her royal wisdom looks to decree that a handful of filthy, mouth breathing hockey players and the crew required to facilitate NHL games in a tightly controlled environment with extremely strict protocols is a major health threat.
Meanwhile, almost every Walmart, Home Depot,Costco and Superstore in BC can allow well over a thousand people to mingle freely, smell, touch (and lick, disgusting but you know it happens) food products as long as they (wink, wink) "social distance" , spray their hands with some mystery fluid and are wearing some form of next to useless chin diaper...

This post is multiple levels of baffling, but first — you don't really think a Walmart store can comfortably fit a thousand people into it, do you?

So Montreal can’t open camp. No confirmation for Ottawa and Toronto and Vancouver yet.
What’s the back up plan?

Canadian teams open the season in the US or Edmonton hub.
