Oh I’d like to think it’s over but the GOP chatter is already “well the house doesn’t have to honor the electoral votes! The fight isn’t over yet!”
The election is over but the GOP shenanigans aren’t.

Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor???
Stupid knows no bounds. This isn't over until Trump is out of the White House and Biden and Harris have been sworn into office.

Barr will go down as one of the worst things to happen to American politics in my lifetime. He's got a lot of competition in the current administration, but he's up there.

As a mostly unintelligible reanimated fossil, Biden is going a good job smacking down Trump and Texas, etal, on their post-election malfeasance. Dems should bring guns to gun fights more often.
He also sounds sick.

Supreme Court won’t revive Kansas voter registration ID law
https://www.thestar.com/news/world/u...on-id-law.html
Quote:
The Supreme Court on Monday rejected an appeal from Kansas that sought to revive a law requiring proof of citizenship to register to vote. A federal appeals court had declared the law unconstitutional.
Kansas had been the only state to require people to show a physical document such as a birth certificate or passport when applying to register to vote. The issue is distinct from state laws that call for people to produce driver licenses or other photo IDs to cast a vote in person.
The law was championed by former Kansas Secretary of State Kris Kobach, who led President Donald Trump’s now-defunct voter fraud commission. Kobach was a leading source for Trump’s unsubstantiated claim that millions of immigrants living in the U.S. illegally may have voted in the 2016 election.
Roughly 30,000 people were prevented from registering to vote during the three years the law was in effect, and the state’s own expert estimated that almost all of those were U.S. citizens who were eligible to vote.

I enjoyed that roasting of the Trump's legal pursuits.
He's right. He was offered every avenue of action available to him and lost on merit, in the eyes of republican judges no less.
The EC has spoken. Time for the Trump administration and base to finally digest the loss for real.
It is over. They can focus on the prospect of 2024 now.

It's interesting that for all the fears about the GOP pulling shenanigans with faithless electors, nothing happened and there were zero faithless electors. In 2016, Trump actually lost 2 EC votes during the electoral college vote and got 304 instead of the 306 because of faithless electors, and I'm assuming those were from Democrats.

Michigan GOP Congressman Paul Mitchell has left the Republican Party over its refusal to accept the result of the election.
"This election simply confirms to me that it's all about power first, and that frankly is disgusting and demoralizing."

Paul Mitchell didn’t run for re-election in 2020 and was out come January anyway. His move this late in the game isn’t anything special. He should have spoken up a couple years ago when some of the things he cited started.

I know that's an easy take. But almost any republican who does that before an election would have got replaced with a Trump loyalist.
It makes for a legitimate dilemma in that position. If you are a moderate Republican who is disgusted with what's happening, is it more effective to stick around to quietly push against that crap, or speak out and get replaced with a hard line supporter?
I'll give these guys a small kudos for speaking out for the right thing even without much to lose.
