Sounds like they all went to system builders. If you’re in a rush buy the Dell that Matt posted earlier and sell the computer, or repurpose it as a Plex server or something.

No rush really, just getting annoyed that I ordered it 47 days ago and there's no ETA

It’s been about 40 days for me. By the time I get one they’ll probably be announcing the 3080ti.

Yeah right now I'm just waiting for that sweet sweet Canadian shipment of 5900x's that are coming on the 26th (maybe), I'll worry about a 3080/Ti in Q2 2021 when supply stabiliizes.

I know somebody with a 3080 that's using it to play (*checks notes) Diablo 2. Ahem.

A true enthusiast would be playing Diablo 2 on a CRT Monitor at 800x600 to get the original experience.

800x600? Maybe if you're rich have one of those fancy CRT's. Us plebs play it at it's intended res of 640x480.

If you're using a 3080 to play Diablo 2, you can probably afford a late-gen CRT monitor that supports 800x600! I think my last CRT monitor was 1024x768 but I don't remember for sure.

Well Diablo 2 and Cold War just patiently waiting for Cyberpunk. Let be clear its Diablo 2 mod Project Diablo 2 with "enhanced" graphics, lol

Edit: Its funny because it actually runs better on my Surface pro

Really? Nice.

The Lian Li O11D Mini case is starting to show up places as well. I'm trying to decide if I should start buying all the other components, I guess I don't know how far down the list I am at MemEx for the CPU.

I was able to get a 3080 off of newegg.ca recently.

No updates or anything from memory express. I ordered the same card as btimbit after he talked about putting in an order.

memory express called me last Friday to pickup my 3080 that finally came in. I preordered at like 11am on launch day so they're slowly getting more in.

I'm looking at the memory express website and all the different versions of the 3070 are confusing - there's a difference of $200 between the highest and lowest price version.

Which do I want?
Does brand name matter?

Please help me. lol

Videocard pricing is mostly centred around 4 things: Connectivity (eg VR port, # of DP slots, etc.), cooler (build, # of fans), factory overclock (guaranteed stable speeds), and brand (some use higher end caps for example, which has been a thing with the 3xxx series).

Ok that's good to know - thank you.

I'm guessing that the connectivity is the only thing I really would understand the requirements for so I'll make sure that box it ticked and then review the cards that suit that need.

For the 3080, I was actually looking at the number of 2.1 HDMI connections. Surprised only the Gigabyte ones seemed to have more than one of them.

I believe the Asus ones have 2 HDMI slots as well on both the TUF and Strix models

Hoping to pick some brains over a PC I'd like to build for my wife. Would do it all through ME but need some suggestions for mobo/cpu/video card.

She's a pretty casual gamer. Amusingly right now she's playing WoW and CoH but would like a rig capable of playing Sea of Thieves and maybe Star Wars BF2? She's almost guaranteed to never play cutting edge games but would like to build something a bit future proof.

I guess the mobo is something I can pick out and any recent i5 processor is likely fine, just a capable video card that's in the $200-$300 range?

I'd do something like a i5 8600 or 9500, z390 mobo and a 5600xt card or 1660 ti. Should get you going for around $1000 all in. Maybe even a little less since older stuff like that actually goes on sale

Wouldn't a used GTX 1060 or 1070 still be a powerful enough card for most games today? I haven't looked up benchmarks for the 1650 but that's in the price range you're suggesting and might be about the same as a 1060.
