Blasty is pure sex.
In The Athletic's article going over the jersey reveals, when talking about Calgary, this is what was said:
“I can’t believe the enthusiasm for Blasty in Calgary,” Near said. “The Flames must’ve known. They’re educated and they know their fans, but it caught me off guard as far as the energy.”
Calgary was the only team in which the fans' love for a particular jersey was mentioned. No other fanbase was referenced for any of the other teams.
It's funny. There's no inbetween when it comes to Blastly. A portion of Flames fans (who are simply dead wrong. Embarrassingly so) hate Blasty and want to burn it into the ground, while the majority of Flames fans absolutely love Blasty and have been campaigning for it to come back for yeeeeeears.
Well, we finally got our wish.
Beautiful.

I've become pretty agnostic in regards to Blasty. It appeals to a certain group of fans who came of age during that era. And that's okay.

Not me, I loved him, and I was one of the "5" members. At the same time, I was only 10 years old and my assessment of players was pretty much based on who scored the most... Wild to think I've been on CP for 2/3 of my life.

I've said it before and I'll say it again. If you don't like Blasty, you're simply wrong.
Flames fans wanted Blasty back. Many of us have been campaigning for Blasty to return for years. Flames management and ownership heard our calls and gave us what we wanted.
My favorite part is Popowich saying he wants/plans for Blasty to be a permanent fixture moving forward.
Blasty forever

The logo is good, though I wouldn't say great.
The jersey was meh. And the 2020 version isn't a whole lot better.

Yeah same.
It seems like enough people like it and want something a little different for a 3rd jersey again. I wouldn't personally pick the Blasty route, but it's not a big deal if it makes other people happy. I would like to see a different concept next time though.
The design of the jersey is fantastic though. Adidas is killing it. The comparison to the Canucks V jersey is pretty weak, but whatever helps the Canucks fans feel validated for that monstrosity I guess.

Just keep the retros as the full time home and away set and introduce new 3rd and 4th jerseys every 2-3 years.
I defiantly like having a black jersey in the set.
I also like the black flaming C.
I don’t have an issue with Blasty but think there is some improvements that can be made to what they just introduced.
I also like the idea of the word mark jersey patch being brought back in some capacity.
The good thing is the owners are listening and are willing to give us what we want (so long as it sells haha).

Some Flames fans. The majority? I doubt it. Actually, I'd love to see a poll here on Blasty or no Blasty. Mods, can we get a poll? Or have we had one of those?

Don't make the common mistake of assuming that Calgary Puck is representative of Flames fans in general. We are just a small subset. The majority of Flames fans have never heard of CP.

I don't really like or dislike it, I'm definitely annoyed at how lazy it looks. Could have been so much better with some very simple tweaks

Blasty also reminds me of the Reading Give It A Shot program when it first started (late 90's, early 00's?). Anyone else remember that?

Looking at Bure's time in Calgary ... most of it was before I was involved with Calgarypuck. A lot of us were on Fire On Ice at the time before the merger with Calgarypuck in 2000.
More than 5 members for sure ... it was a pretty busy place. We were way bigger than Calgarypuck when the merger happened.

Again, I'll do you the credit of assuming you're joking, as it would be insulting to believe you would seriously believe in this embarrassingly bad take.
I would wager "most Flames fans" don't even know what "Blasty" is without further context. (It was always "the flaming booger horse" to me.) Outside of the cadre of people who were little kids in the late '90s and early '00s I can't imagine anyone having fond memories of it. "Blasty" is to the Flames as the "Fishsticks" jersey is to the Islanders: a cynical attempt at increasing merchandise revenues at a time when expansion teams were cleaning the clocks of the established teams in the sales departments.
Frankly Flames management have been extremely inept at making new jerseys for the last 25 years. The only "hit" they had with a new design was the '03 "Black C" jersey; everything else they've ever done has been a swing-and-a-miss. The only smart decision they made in the last 15 years or so had been to bring the original jersey design back. There was a league-wide edict to participate in this "Reverse Retro" gobbledy####, so I get that the Flames' staff were painted into a corner and had to come up with something, but if they embrace "Blasty" going forward they're even more incompetent than I thought.

Who Hurt You?
The horsehead jersey (as it was originally known) is great. The horsehead jersey has always been great...as an alternate jersey.
The problem with it originally is it actually replaced our Red jerseys for those couple seasons. But as an alternate it's always been great. It was also great as a shoulder patch too, people always hate on the logo while forgetting that it's also on the "Black C" jersey that you claim to really like.
I know people aged 5 to 50 that all like the jersey and are fans of both this jersey design and the original jersey. Feedback around the internet from both Flames fans, and from fans of other teams was overwhelming positive about the return of that logo.
So don't think it's just an age thing. The Flaming C should never be replaced as our main logo on our main sets, but "Blasty" would be welcome as a shoulder patch or an alternate jersey any day of the week.
