I am curious if Canada started to receive even 5% of what these companies can produce weekly, how long until we are able move forward with a plan. With each company that we have an agreement with, gets approved, it really does open the door wider.

This is the best article I've seen on that, it's a little vauge.
Quote:
Canada announced on Aug. 5 that it had preordered both the Moderna and the Pfizer/BioNTech vaccines. It later specified that it had reserved 20 million doses of each, with the option to purchase more. In the case of the Moderna vaccine, the agreement specifies that the federal government has the option to purchase another 36 million doses. Because two doses are required, Canada would initially have enough to vaccinate 10 million people with each vaccine if they are approved. Both companies said the vaccines would be delivered in 2021.
How much can Pfizer/BioNTech and Moderna manufacture?
Pfizer/BioNTech say they can produce up to 50 million vaccine doses in 2020 and up to 1.3 billion doses in 2021.
Besides Canada, they have already received preorders from other countries.
For the Pfizer vaccine, the U.S. has preordered the first 100 million doses, with option to add another 500 million. Pfizer and BioNTech say they can deliver 50 million of those doses by year end. The United Kingdom has ordered 30 million. The companies also have a proposed agreement with the European Union for 200 million doses.
Moderna expects to have about 20 million doses, earmarked for the U.S. by the end of 2020. The U.S. has ordered a total of 100 million doses, with the option to acquire more. Moderna has also signed deals with Israel and Switzerland.
Both Moderna and Pfizer/BioNTech plan to ask the U.S. Food and Drug Administration for emergency use authorization of their vaccines once the trials are complete and the safety data analyzed.

I don't know if I'd expect anything from Moderna for Canada until next year. I think the US has pretty much exclusive rights to US production, at least to start. I believe Canada's are being sourced from European production, but I don't think they're even done setting those facilities up yet. Last I read, Lonza (Moderna's manufacturing partner for the vaccine) was putting together 4 production lines in Switzerland, but didn't expect to actually have them up and running until December at the earliest.

I am Legend with actor/rapper Will Smith.... Loved that movie when it came out.
Sadly in today's context it has foretold one (unlikely) possibility of how this may end.

Are you arguing that Pfizer’s CEO sold his stock due to the fact Moderna’s vaccine is easier to distribute? Or are you just ignoring what I’m responding to?

I'd be interested to know why the 2 have such different temperature requirements. They are both mRNA vaccines, so are they just using different mediums? Or is Pfizer just more cautious?

Considering the sh*tshow down south, perhaps it's best for Canada (and therefore the World) if the US gets their vaccines first anyway to help stabilize things.

Both, from my understanding. They're both delivered in proprietary lipid nanoparticles, but Moderna's version can likely withstand warmer temperatures. However, Pfizer is now testing theirs at warmer temperatures as well and are apparently confident that it'll be able to handle that, so who knows.

Sorry I still don't quite see it the way I think you do.
This stock sale plan was renewed on August 19, the day before they released the results of the initial trial. All along the Pfizer CEO had been talking about a November release of the extended trial results. And in that stock sale plan approved in August, it had him selling 60% of his stock in early November. And in August did they know they were neck and neck with Moderna on timing of releasing results? I'm sure they did.
It's why these stock sale plans are not the great defenders of transparency that some make them out to be. Frankly, there might be more transparency if executives had control over the sale since any monkey business would be easier to identify.
I don't see any conspiracy here. Too many moving parts. But did the CEO just magically fall into this through good fortune? Nope. There was no way that stock sale plan should have been renewed as it was in August, a day before the initial press release with him selling 60% of his stock at around the expected time of the next press release.
The Moderna executives were under the same scrutiny for their initial press release and subsequent stock sales.

So you are against incentivizing the CEO of a company to deliver on the targets of that company? That is the whole point of stock options.

Did he even make any money? The stock was around $38 in August and would have been maybe $39 when he sold. Hardly a windfall.

Depends when he bought in but likely not. Their stock hasn't really gone up a whole lot in the last eight years since going up from about $15 in 2010 to $30 in 2012 or so.

Stock options are fine. But that’s not the issue here.
For the most part, I don’t believe the chief executive of a company should be selling much stock. If they do, I don’t believe these stock sale plans actually accomplish much of anything with regards to accountability and transparency.

Well. Okay. But in this instance these options vested and were disbursed on set dates. They're a Long-Term Incentive Plan.
Its actually really standard.
If anyone genuinely has some issues maybe ask why Moderna didnt get their announcement out about a supposedly superior vaccine first? They dont have a vested interest in the Pfizer stock.

Moderna was waiting to have enough infections in the placebo group, as is Pfizer had done. They could have released incomplete data, I guess, but then everyone would question their motives. I don't think there is smoke in any of this let alone fire.
