Extreme right wing and QAnon nuts have said that since Parler’s inception, then once they were promptly moderated it just seemed to die off.
My hope is that those guys just get driven underground. Isn’t it better to make it harder for these guys to find each other to organize than leaving everything in plain sight?

What I’m gathering from you guys is that the problem isn’t with the mail in ballots but rather the counting process, and that states should start the counting process earlier, which I’m 100% on board with.
Thanks for the info guys!

Trump was going to claim fraud if he lost no matter what. If it wasn't mail-in ballots it would have been something else. Such a hilariously Trump strategy:
- If he wins, he wins, but it would have been a bigger win if not for the fraudulent votes.
- If it's close, he wins, but it's not immediately clear cut because of the fraudulent votes.
- If he loses, he actually won because of all the fraudulent votes.
Just ignore him...he's a tit. Obviously can't ignore him if the GOP and allies start actually moving toward hijacking the government, but for now I'm not that worried.

The state call should come shortly. The delta between Kelly's lead and Biden's lead is 35K votes. Later today someone will have the balls to do what Fox did and end this mess.

This one is going to be tricky as hell because you know the Republicans are going to fight tooth and nail for those two seats.

About 2/3 of states do allow the counting to start before the election day.
Pennsylvania does not and their republican legislature turned down efforts to change that law this year before the election.

The number of pink slips that are going to be handed out after inauguration day will be outstanding.

Both parties will fight hard for them. The Dems will have big donors so expect them to pour a ton of money into. It's Georgia, so the GOP will have an edge and since it's almost like a mid term in a way, the party not in power likely has an edge.

If Biden were smart he would try to provide a calming and healing tone with the nation. I would suggest he rip a page from the FDR playbook and institute weekly or monthly "fireside chats" and speak to the American people about the challenges we all face. Bring on average Americans and talk through their issues in frank open discourse for the nation to observe. This is where Biden shines and could really help reach all constituents.

It will be a very tough fight, but I expect Democrat voters to be invigorated, while Republicans may find the high turnout and enthusiasm for their side was for Trump, not down ballot Republicans.
Not only that, I expect Trump will go scorched earth on the Republican party now. All he knows how to do is lash out and blame others: he won't stop with just Democrats. That could dampen Republican enthusiasm in the runoffs.

While true, there is no law to say when state has to finish counting. California is still at 60% reported. It's because nobody cares so they don't have to count fast.

I think they could extend in-person voting by a few days to reduce wait times at the polls. Maybe give three days to vote in person? I just don’t see any reason Joe Blow who lives in the suburbs of Philadelphia needs to be mailing in a ballot instead of voting in person.
I understand the concerns with COVID this year but there has to be a way to avoid this fiasco in the future.
I don’t know how feasible this is and I might be overlooking some problems here.
|
It was only a problem because postal service was slow, no? Otherwise, it doesn’t seem like a big deal, although I think generally voting on election day is preferable (non-pandemic) just because who knows what can happen leading up to the day.

When all is said and done, I'm excited to watch the interaction between Trump and Biden at the inauguration. If anyone thought it was awkward between Obama and Trump, oh boy are we in for a treat.
I wonder if he even shows up.

What a relief....
I'm sure Trump will still fight it, and there are still piles of huge problems for the US to face internally, but it seems their bedrock institutions have managed to just narrowly survive. It will be tough to fix the problems over the next four years with McConnell in the Senate, Fox News and the alt-right media still holding so much influence, but the worst looks to have been averted. Wow. Thank you universe for working out like that.
With the reports of Putin possibly stepping down in January also, we could see the first month of 2021 open with the departure of both Trump and Putin from the world stage.
I just really want a break from it all.

Something that AOC tweeted a few days ago, and I hope those in power (and not wanting a repeat of Trumpism) think about it and use it to help heal the divide in the US
