Well that’s disappointing. Seems like it’s just gonna be the same thing all over again. Republicans saying no to Democrats. Democrats asking Republicans for alternatives. Republicans on Fox complaining that Democrats aren’t getting anything done. Democrats trying again. Republicans saying no. Democrats asking for alternatives. Republicans complaining Democrats aren’t getting anything done. Democrats trying again... and on and on and on.

For the first 2 years, pretty much. That's why the next midterms are massive. If the Dems can grab control of the Senate things might actually get done.

Yeah. I got a kick out of the way Jake asked the question, gave this idiot space to prove himself a fool, and thanked and dismissed him

So if GA and PA both flip, and NV sticks, that’s 300. Would that be considered a blowout?

Welcome to Day 3. We have a sense of fascinated helplessness as statistics slowly accumulate and a sense that after five days the result still won’t be clear.

The live tracker on Google for the AP shows Biden up on Trump 79,173 in Arizona and only 8,000 up in Nevada.

We need to petition the parties down there to swap colours. Cheering for blue to beat red just feels all kinds of wrong.

Not historically. I think for a blowout you need to be in the high 300s.
Trump won 306 EVs in 2016. Obama won 332 in 2012 and that was a much narrower victory than his 2008 victory with 365 (winning Indiana, North Carolina and the 2nd District of Nebraska.
And there were HUGE blowouts in the electoral college in the “old days” including Reagan in 1984 and Nixon in 1972, who carried 49 of 50 states.
I don’t foresee those kinds of margins in the foreseeable future—I think too many voters are too committed to their party now....

I think blowouts now would be if you win the Presidency along with the Senate. As the GOP have shown, if you have that you can do almost anything you want, regardless of your electoral victory margin. But yeah, 300 is not a blowout.

News organizations used to alternate blue & red back and forth between the two parties (and sometimes use other colours like yellow or green) to represent won and lost states, until the election of 2000, when, by pure chance, it was the Republicans turn to be red.
A month and a half of talking-heads going on and on about "red states" and blue states" and the map being displayed everywhere and suddenly the red=Republican, blue=Democrat iconography was firmly established in the American psyche.
It's pure luck there aren't a hundred thousand "You know why the Democrats are red, right? THEY'RE COMMUNISTS" tweets every two years.

Wow I just finally read Trump's "dibs" tweet.
Don't know how I missed it last night. Great stuff.

Hard to use the word blowout when last night a lot of the country went to bed thinking it would be Trump.

Only because the mail in vote wasn't counted from the start...thanks to you know who. When all the votes are in we will see how close the electoral is.
