Joakim Nordstrom saw a great fit with the #Flames, but his best friend Elias Lindholm helped seal the deal:
"Not only in this last week, but ever since (Lindholm) got to Calgary, he's only had praise for the organization. He kept telling me how much he's enjoying it there."
I hope he is friends with Elias Petterson too

I like this signing a lot. I liked Reider bu tI think this is a huge upgrade for what the Flames need especially if you look at it as Jankowski replacement. He has an excellent compete level and I hope it rubs off on a few other players.
He stood out to me in the last two Boston playoffs so I am glad to see the Flames get a player like this.

Glad to see the team is investing in Lindholm. That guy is our best forward and we can't lose him and surrounding him with friends is a great way to keep him happy
If Treliving could have a prototype for how to build out the roster, he need look no further than #28.
Good on the Flames brass. It seems an intentional effort to build around players more in the blue-collar talent mold and I'm a big fan.
More guys like Lindholm and Mangiapane are how we'll put an end to our playoff woes.

Nordstrom is the type of penalty killer and 4th liner that you want.
Jankowski and Reider had some skills, but they aren't the type who are going to do whatever it takes to help you win. They won't lay down and block shots and they aren't going to get their hands dirty in the trenches.
You need your 4th liners to do the dirty work. Championship teams have always had that element in the 4th lines.
Flames probably need another guy like Nordstrom.

Nordstrom sounds like a great 4th line energy player .... more like Hathaway replacement as a 4th line energy player was not replaced.... Closest to a replacement was Dube but he was not a 4th liner,
Jankowski score 36 goals in his 208 NHL games Nordstrom 31 goals in 400 games.
Hathaway got the 4 year x 1.5 M deal back when the cap was supposed to go up every year.
The goal to get the trio of best friends together has been complete.
Ahhhh.... the good old "Hold the Carp* really close to the camera so that it looks huge" trick
From everything I've heard and read, love the signing, and love that 3 good friends will be playing together. As far as I'm concerned, 700K well spent.

I read this post and immediately knew who it was from.
Flames website had a nice article about Lindholm and Nordstrom and the fishing photo posted earlier:
Quote:
The pic was taken and posted on Flames forward Elias Lindholm's Instagram account on June 6, 2020, about a month left in the 'pause,' before Lindholm and his two buddies - Jacob Markstrom of the Vancouver Canucks, and Nordstrom of the Boston Bruins - all returned to their clubs to resume the 2019-20 season.
Now, only a few months later, they're all dressed in the Flames' iconic red-and-white scheme.
And the prominent polaroid has already gone 'viral' in the players' group chats.
"I reminded Elias about that yesterday and actually sent him the photo," Nordstrom said. "I was like, 'Little did we know …'
"We've been so close for so long now. A few years ago, all three of us went to Portugal and had a golfing trip, then went to Spain to watch a few Champions League soccer games.
If we weren't making a full-time move back to the gloriously bright retros, I'd be making some strongly worded recommendations to replace the Alberta flag on the jersey shoulder with a Sweden flag.

Hopefully he can improve his 5v5 play. From Dom over at The Athletic yesterday.

Where the Flames lose value is in their recent addition of Joakim Nordstrom, worth minus-0.7 wins on his own. He really reduces the fourth line’s utility at even strength.
