Don't the cars have to somehow shift (or however you want to call it) from the leftmost lane to the rightmost lane on a 5-lane section to get from Sarcee to 37 st ramp?

No. It's a dual exit lane to 37 St, the right most lane is exit only. You have the entire mile long flyover to already be in the right lane. Hell, be in the right lane from way back at Richmond Road. Then you exit, and make a lane change.

The two left lanes that continue on from the flyover are not a factor in the merge/weave at all, and counting them is the only way to to get to 5 lanes.

I did this today. I started on Sarcee and took Highway 8 west, turned around at 101st then drove south down to Fish Creek and turned around and got off at the new Costco.

A few thoughts:

The median is absolutely humongous in person.

The amount of pavement used for the westbound lanes is absolutely astounding.

For as underbuilt NE Stoney is at the TCH, this section will never ever need widening. You'd think they could have saved a few bucks on this project to add a couple lanes over there.

Acey, you well know this is not the Calgary way to do things. We need to stay in the wrong lane as long as possible, then gun it at the last second before cutting off the vehicle in the right lane while simultaneously giving them the finger, then cut over multiple lanes of traffic.

I drove it today to try it out, and yeah...it's weird. I can see why they posted Glenmore at 60 km/h because it's far from intuitive. I suppose this is only gonna be in place until Tsuut'ina Parkway is done, though.

I think they said they're "waiting for adjacent development" before Parkway is opened. No idea on the timeline for that, but it doesn't sound good.

I still think they should have forced the double back on Westhills Way.

Drove the new portion earlier tonight; very light volume but still quite impressive. Felt like 5 min from Glenmore to Anderson

About 4-5 mins less from Douglasdale to Bridlewood thanks to no lights at 22x/Macleod intersections

So I guess with this weather there is no hope of the 22x to Stoney section getting completed. They look SO close to opening that. SW ring road is still useless for me until that gets completed. Glad to hear others are benefitting from it.

Question for those who are in that part of town. Southland Leisure Centre is my destination coming from the north. Any appreciable difference accessing off it off Stoney via Southland vs. Anderson?

Anderson looks slightly longer distance and doubling back to the north but speed limits are higher.

Southland is more direct/less doubling back but at a lower speed limit.

Probably a wash either way?

It'll will improve mine significantly, but I can't give you tangible as I'm still working from home.... I have gotten in the habit of giving the finger to 14th every time I don't have to take it. It's hard to quantify how satisfying that is.

It might not seem like much, but that could really add up. If you're just commuting to and from work, let's call it 7 minutes gained per day. That's 35 per week; 2 hours per month; a full day in a year!
