Do they have to be under the salary cap to start the season, or do they just need to hit the finish line under the cap (obviously meaning the daily accruals)?
Does anyone know the rumoured penalties? My suggestion would be ineligibility for the playoffs and you lose all of your picks in the next draft.

Yeah, the way I understand it is Vegas locals are happy to have something in Vegas for them as opposed to tourists. They embraced it pretty hard, which is actually good for the league as a whole.

I think there will be enough interest in Schmidt that the deal won’t be terrible for Vegas.

Karlsson 2.0 as far as a lot of hype that doesn't match the output.
Though at least Pietrangelo has won something.

There is an extra 600,000 a year in tax savings on the 8 million salary by signing in Vegas... if Vegas did 8 they would certainly do 9 to match

If you are Columbus and you can get Schmidt for a 3rd round pick, do you say no because of solidarity? I doubt it. Some team is going to get a good dman for next to nothing. And Vegas will be fine with it because Pietroangelo is an upgrade.

I don't think this helps them score.
That was their issue against Dallas and a lesser extent against the canucks.
Hope its a wall they continue to hit going forward.

I don't think the "Fake Fans" are the ones actually from Vegas that go to home games
"Fake Fans" are the people from elsewhere that jumped on the bandwagon...for real fandom you need to experience the hardships. I kinda get the underdog story from the first year (although it was overblown they had a better roster than half the league)
But now they are full of high priced players, many of the UFAs
Anyway, that is a lot of money/term...likely one of those good for a while and then bad contracts. I also think people are underestimating what they have lost/are losing

Well if you hate Vegas, just know this contract will eventually come back to haunt them (I think). But they may be a contender for the next few years so you'll have to suffer through that.

I hope they're helpless on that front for a while given all the cap they pissed away today.
Boycott all deals with these expansion losers!

I don’t think so. Pietrangelo is a top 3 Dman in the league. Karlsson wasn’t overhyped, his injury hindered his ability.

So Schmidt to Vancouver (good deal for the Nucks).
Gets them below the offseason limit, but they still need to shed a million or so.

Vegas still needs to shed salary.
My dream is we somehow pry Tuch out of Vegas for a song.

The reasons why each of us cheer for any team are totally arbitrary.
Who cares

It's absolutely mind boggling why anyone cares who other people cheer for. Or why.

I find it hard to believe anyone really cares that much for a team that you have never been through tough times with...seems more like a look at me thing
I laugh at people at the dome dressed head to toe in gear from a team that didn't exist a couple years back
