I'd love to bring in Hoffman

On a 2 year max contract.

The one good thing about bringing in a perennially minus forward is we have a goalie that is used to covering up for guys half assing it on the defensive side.

I am leery of signing Hoffman, but I agree that we could really use a sniper.

The only possible way, IMO, would be is we looked at trading Mangiapane (with no salary coming back).

Gaudreau - Monahan - Hoffman
Tkachuk - Backlund - Lindholm

I wish there was some kind of package we could put together to make a Backlund => Nylander swap.

TO gets 1.6M in relief, plus Backlund and whatever picks/prospects need to be added... and we get:

A lot of people keep bringing up Ryan as a guy that can be traded for cap room. With the UFA's still remaining, is anyone going to pony up for his cap hit without the Flames having to add a sweetener?

I dont see the big upgrade on hoffman. Magipange acored 17 goals. Him adding another 5-8 is not out of the question this year. At that point he is somewhere between low to mid 20 goal scored. Around the same as hoffman but much better 2 way.

Flames need a hard nose checking 3rd line rw who can score 15 goals and be responsible 2 way.

Connor brown or whats his face on montreal (fast guy we lost) are type of winger for that spot

Paul Byron...great penalty killer...tenacious and/but small...plays big though..

Dube is a good 2-way forward who has 15 goals in him easily. Double that eventually. Not a RHS but that’s about it.

Do not bring in Hoffman. San Jose got him cheap and preferred to flip him for a smidge of profit than keep him. I don't know his deal, but i would put him in the James Neal category (not the underperformance part but the ###### part).

Tre...put the phone down, go for a vacation and come into the season with some cap room. It will come in handy.

Already penciled him on 3rd lune wirh benett. I see lucic on 4th line to start. So bennett and dube need a winger.
