I am not so big on acquiring Perry, but if the Flames do, it is to play on the 4th line.
I would rather have Bennett playing with Dube - another player that has wheels and can play at pace - then being anchored once again to an older, slower and declining player like he was with Brouwer and Neal.

JG has two but after this season he has a MNTC - he lists 5 teams he can go to.

Perry was standing in front of the net for big goal after big goal during the playoffs

Internally the flames may argue that if you give up 3 less goals against Dallas...they could have been in the finals. Another development year for Bennett, Dube, Andersson and Valimaki without any significant regression and the team is right there.
Dont know if I agree with the above...but this is a train of thought. Load up at the deadline and make significant changes at the draft next year if necessary...

Well, the Hall dream is dead until trade deadline. If we sign RW then may be we need to try Dube as a C? He has the qualities of C. Can skate with the puck, can hold a little better than Monahan and he is faster.

Absolutely always. It is an entertainment industry. Winning is the ultimate fan service, but fun is a close second. Don't bore your audience!

He was actually drafted as a C.
I like the idea of Hall at the deadline. Trade Ryan now, accumulate cap over the year, and trade for Hall and a top 6 RW at the deadline, going all in for a run with the current core. Right after the playoffs, trade Gaudreau (if you can before the NTC kicks in) and over the off-season trade everyone over 25 and do a major rebuild. A few players would have to waive, but given a clear intent to rebuild they might agree to.

Someone who can score an OT goal in the playoffs would be nice.

Perry has scored two playoff OT goals against the Flames. They both came within the first three minutes of OT.

Flames lost Quine who scored a playoff OT goal before but they also have Backlund, Lucic, and Tanev
The only guys in NHL history with more playoff OT goals than Perry? Sakic and Rocket Richard
Galchenyuk, also discussed, has two

There’s a guy behind the bench who could lace them up.

I think we should target Dadonov, he is really skilled, plus he is really good gaining the offensive blue line. He would be a great fit on the top line, adding another player who can gain the blueline would take the pressure off Gaudreau.

I wonder about Mikael Granlund-he had some great seasons in Minny, but his career has really stalled in Nashville. Perhaps he could get back to hovering near 70 pts if he had a fresh start? There's a bunch of players struggling offensively there.
As for Toffoli, the reason he had 10 pts in 10 games for Vancouver was because he had some real ice time for the first time in a few years. I believe he was only getting 12-13 minutes a night with the Kings-I read that his pts/60 was one of the best on that roster. If a coach gives him reasonable TOI, he'll produce.

Why wasn't he getting the ice time though?

He was getting 16+ minutes a night in LA. A minute and a half more in Vancouver with a bit more PP time.
TT would be a very nice piece for this club. As always though...comes down to the $$ and term needed.

I am still disappointed with the Hall story. Our top 6 needs some sort of change.

I’m convinced the way to fix the roster is via trade with Philly.
To Philly: Johnny Gaudreau
To CGY: Travis Konecny, Morgan Frost
Philly has cap space and only two pure left wingers. Johnny Gaudreau could easily play the top left wing position for Philly.
The Flames need RH forwards in the top 6, and I think they need more players with the courage and competitiveness to go into the corners and dig out pucks while also having the skill and speed to produce offends. That’s Konecny. The Flames also need another quality top 9 forward on a very low cap hit. Frost’s is 863K.
This would leave:
Monahan - Lindholm - Konecny
Tkachuk - Backlund - Mangiapane
Frost - Bennett - Dube
Lucic - Ryan - Gawdin

Without Hall coming back my interest in trading Johnny goes to almost 0.
What about something like H. Lindholm+ rakkell for hanifin+ mangiapane?
