Pretty much. But Hall wasn't going to sign here to be a #3 LW, so a body will need to be moved to make it work anyway.

I expect once we see Hall and Pietrangelo sign, we will see lots of dominoes fall.

Hoffman, Dadonov, Toffoli etc for Hall. Krug, Barrie, Brodie etc for Pietrangelo.

Plus teams need to know how much cap they have available to make moves for other forwards or defensemen

So far, only 11 contracts signed with cap hits over $1 million. Markstrom's is the only UFA contract to exceed 3 years.

Goaltending has been the only position that has seen some action with Markstrom, Holtby, Khudobin, Talbot, Lundqvist etc finding spots.

There are still a few options in goal available though with Greiss, Dell, Fleury (trade), Kuemper (Trade) etc

So, purely hypothetically, assuming Brodie is gone... If Pietrangelo can be convinced to play in Calgary for $8-$8.5M and Hall for $7M... Is it even a theoretical possibility? Who could be traded out to get within the cap?

Gaudreau and Hanifin would clear a huge chunk of the cap space needed to sign those two and fill out the roster. They'd also probably bring back a very nice pile of futures.

You want to sign a cheapish "fringey" top 4 LHD dman though to help ease Valimaki into a top 4 role and guard against the loss of Hanifin. Someone like Mirco Mueller, Derek Forbort or Kulikov perhaps.
