Maybe Treliving doesn't know he has to dial 011 first.

I don't think its panicking - but the most recent information, from a legitimate member of the Vancouver press who covers hockey provided a tweet indicating its going to be a monster contract. Thats reason to believe the numbers everyone was initially throwing around are too low. Especially when Matt Murray got what he got this morning and wasn't even close to Markstrom caliber.
Given that fact pattern, IF we are looking at the $8- $9M range, WALK AWAY.

Yeah, but it sounded like it was a thought on what the holdup might be, not a report. It is nearly 10 pm in Sweden, so I think there is a good chance this drags on until tomorrow.

Maybe let's not go nuts. The guy is a career decent starter with 1.5 very good (not MVP calibre) seasons, one being a contract year. He isn't prime Brodeur.
|
Was 4th in Vezina voting this year.
So literally the 4th best goalie in the league.

Just a broken record from these idiots.
Sorry off topic. I just refuse to leave this thread due to its imminent nature.

If he gets that $$$ it is with a bottom feeder looking to get above the cap floor. Which I don't think is what he wants at this point in his career.
I think his AAV will be under Markstrom's.
Pietrangelo is getting big money, though.

Is Greiss still available? I would rather have greiss at $2M less than Markstrom if thats what the difference ends up being

Fwiw Markstrom just barely missed out on being a Vezina finalist this year

I don't even know if I'd say that. Elliott was a damn good tandem goalie that was never a legit #1. Some combination of the starer workload, leaving the Blues' system, and just getting older, contributed to his numbers falling off.

I just can't commit to goaltenders. Markstrom has been very good the last 2 years, but that's really all he has in his career.
Goalies are voodoo. Very rarely do you find somebody young and consistent like Vasilevsky. Even Price, who many consider to be the best in the league, varies wildly from season to season.
If I was a GM, this is not a bet I'd be willing to make. Markstrom could be great next season, he could be great for all six or seven years, but he could also just fall back to earth. And the samples we have available say either is likely to happen.
I'd save my money here and spend elsewhere.

The biggest knock Tre has had to listen to was no bonafide #1 no way on earth he was letting this bus pass by.

Yeah, 3 bad regular seasons and two bad playoffs in a row.
He wasn't even the starter game one in the 2018 playoffs but found his game again for a couple months

If he’s waiting for Treliving to blink and give him a seventh year, he might be waiting awhile:
Treliving has a bit of leverage if the Oilers are out as nobody else can give him $6Mx6, let alone $6Mx7...

If the eastern conference stayed up and watched.
He was the MVP of his team.
He was 4th in vezina voting this year.
And all of this is not fact checked just out of my ass sorry

I still think that's panicking. Nobody has reported any rumours of anything in that price range, we just have one reporter from Vancouver using throwing out the term 'monster'
I'll take Bob McKenzie's rumours over Drance's

There’s no nominations, as you know. There’s not even “finalists” in the true sense, they just call the top 3 vote getters in every candidate that. He finished 4th in voting this year (albeit by a pretty big margin).

totally. Markstrom's save percentage of .918 is only 10 basis points worse than Talbot's .919.

And per the fancy stat goalie stuff should have been at least 3rd if not 2nd
The only concern I'd have for the flames is ian clark was such a benefit to him, but it's a real small concern because hes experienced and had marky for a long time, and the improvements have been consistent year to year
Say he signs a 6 year deal, goalies are somewhat voodoo so it's tough to predict
But I'd say he would put in
1 below average year
1 slightly above average
2 top 10 years
2 top 5 years
