I agree.
In general, this free agency, with 17 mill in cap, in Treliving's ultimate test.

So no.

Other than the 16 wins, .922SV% and 2.16GAA in the 2018 playoffs.

Cherry picking. Loui Eriksson sucked when he GOT his last contract. Not a case of "oh he's not quite worth the 6mill this last year". I would say that Markstrom becoming Andrew Hammond is a pretty low risk. Certainly worth it for the chance to have a goalie you have actual confidence in for a few years.
Failing a cap dump, we just go the Chicago route and say he gets rashes from his goalie pads or something.

Somewhere along to line you missed what I was responding to.
Which was the claim that Holtby’s contract was a steal.

I’m not going to be surprised if he gets up there. This is free agency, the top end won’t feel the squeeze.

If it's 6x7 or 6x6, I hate it.
I just can't commit to goaltenders. Markstrom has been very good the last 2 years, but that's really all he has in his career.
Goalies are voodoo. Very rarely do you find somebody young and consistent like Vasilevsky. Even Price, who many consider to be the best in the league, varies wildly from season to season.
If I was a GM, this is not a bet I'd be willing to make. Markstrom could be great next season, he could be great for all six or seven years, but he could also just fall back to earth. And the samples we have available say either is likely to happen.
I'd save my money here and spend elsewhere.

Comparatively? Absolutely a steal to what we are peeling out for Markstrom. You can build a better team around Holtby.
Either way, doesn't matter now. We are in this thing too deep and what lies under neath is the abyss.

That's not how I interpreted that. More that they thought it was close a few hours ago but it's still not done.

Who, Thomas "no one allowed on the Canucks bandwagon cause everyone hated us in 2011" Drance? He seems pretty familiar to me.

No, you heard wrong, unless this gets rid of the last year.

Maybe it’s a Bishop situation and ownership isn’t answering their phone to sign off on the deal.

Is it? Lehner went first for 5.
Talbot is out performing Holtby.
So no, comparatively, it’s terrible.

Advanced goalie stats are meant to make up for difference in shot quality and defensive play.
Markstrom had the higher work load for sure but the numbers are the numbers.
Both guys were 30 year olds that didn't have a long history of great play, coming off a season where they had a season that was a bit of a "blip" based on their career numbers.
Markstrom will hopefully be better, but he's not a guy that had multiple seasons of elite play like the Rask, Bishop, Holtby, Price, Vasy, etc of the world. He's had one good, and one great season over the last two years after a career of being average to below average before that and he's on the wrong side of the age curve. Hopefully he's elite and is a top 15 goalie for at least 3 years of this deal, but it's a risky signing.
I posted it yesterday but over the last 10 years it's been rare for long term deals for goalies signed after they turn 28 to work out for the team that signed that deal.

What other offers could Markstrom still have on the table to have this much leverage?

Maybe let's not go nuts. The guy is a career decent starter with 1.5 very good (not MVP calibre) seasons, one being a contract year. He isn't prime Brodeur.
