I don’t get it sometimes. The desire to get a “steal of deal” on substandard goods seems to be what drives some people.
You get what you pay for, generally speaking. Markstrom is a $6M goalie, without question. This is free agency - there is always an extra year to two, and in half a decade if we need to get out of the deal? They’ll figure it out then.

I am not going to be perturbed by a writer focusing on one of our biggest rivals who are potentially losing their MVP last season to us. I still think we're going to see 6x6 or just under 6x7 with an NMC.
I know some think the Murray signing didnt affect this but IMO that is the hitch. Markstrom/Agent (likely more agent) wants the highest AAV out of the goalies on the market, and couldn't stomach seeing Murray land that contract.

I get the urge to want to keep cap hits small to spend elsewhere, but the #1 goalie isn't the place you're going to save money and win, unless it's someone you drafted

Yeah this will easily be the biggest deal ever for a guy with a career .911 save percentage and two above average seasons.
Probably more what Drance is referring to. Not that it will be in the Price/Bob/Vasy end of things.

I disagree, if we are talking Bobrovsky money walk away. The guy is 31 years old and if gets handed anything over a 8 AAV for 6-7 years its a bad deal. This team has more issues than just goaltending.
