Seems like Trump is going to go the China route and unilaterally approve a vaccine as a hail mary. That exchange in the VP debate was pretty telling:
Harris "If Dr Fauci approves it I'll be first in line. Not if Trump does."
Pence "So you wouldn't take the vaccine???!!!"
Seems like a likely GOP strategy in the next few weeks. Blame the Democrats for spreading COVID and killing both Americans and the economy by not supporting El Cheeto's miracle vaccine.

No doubt that Trump and the GOP will try anything at this point, and it does seem like this might be their final desperate attempt. The problem for them is that we're only three weeks out from the election. Even if a miracle Trump vaccine was pushed through, I highly doubt it would change anything. Unless a Comey-style bombshell drops over the next couple of weeks, the votes are essentially locked in at this point.
Not to mention it would likely take weeks to determine whether or not a vaccine is actually effective. Also, it's looking like many Americans wouldn't trust a vaccine that gets rushed out too quickly.
Pew Research Center found that only 51% of Americans surveyed said they would get a COVID-19 vaccine if it were available today -- down from 72% in May. The survey found 77% thought it was "very or somewhat likely" that a vaccine would be approved before its safety or effectiveness is fully understood, and 78% said they were concerned vaccine approval will move too fast.
I agree, what's the upside there? If it's for concerns of how he might govern as a lame duck President, then do this after Nov. 3.
It's not going to pass in the Senate anyway. Makes no sense.
I think the point is to get people talking bout the 25th (without actually invoking it), and as people are increasingly worried about Trump's irrationality, they're reminded that there are mechanisms in place to at the very least transfer power, which other Republicans are refusing to use. House and Senate Democrats can hold their rivals to task on this issue. Asking vulnerable senate Republicans like Ernst, Collins, and McSally where they stand on invoking the 25th when a president is under the influence of mind-altering drugs is a pretty solid line of attack.
Oh, and speaking of irrationality, Trump's going on Fox news tonight to have a quack doctor confirm that he's totally healthy.

God I hope he has a coughing fit as fatal (in re-election sense) as Howard Dean's scream

What a dickbag friggin country that is. A literal third-world dictatorship. Maybe it’s time for some other countries to step in and offer to liberate them and install some form of a democratic system.
Deport them to where? I mean, if they don't have any proof of residency with them, where do they get sent? Who is going to take them?
The end goal is not deporting people (just a side-effect that will be popular with the base). The end goal is making people of visible minorities so alarmed by this policy that they avoid public gathering places... particularly polling stations.
