? Assuming no big acquisitions like Taylor Hall, Dubé is one of the 6 best forwards on the team.
I don't think Simmonds would be competing for that kindn of spot at this point in his career.

I like Simmonds as a player I just dont see what role he'd play on a team already paying Lucic 5 mill to be a big but slow bottom 6 forward.

Simmonds having great reach is going to get some larger contract than he’s worth by some terrible GM. There is no upside to the guy. He’s simply a steaky player for the bottom two lines. I’d pass hard on him as you can get that cheaper.

This line would have been great to have in 2013.

Kidding aside, it actually would've been.

Don't play them in games when you don't have last change...

Simmonds would be a god awful addition to the roster. Unless we're trading everyone and trying to tank.

Yes, potentially signing a bottom 6 forward deserves this kind of terrible hyperbolic reaction.

Simmonds is no longer an nhl level bottom 6 forward. And like you have ANY legs to stand on about "terrible hyperbolic reactions" lol pot, kettle, and all that.

Based on what?
8g
17a
119 shots
145 hits
27 takeaways
14 giveaways
14 mins a night on two garbage teams.

No dube is not. The guy had 2 hot games to start vs Dallas. Other then that very little consistency. Dube still has a ton to prove.

Not being able to stick as a bottom 6 contributor on Philadelphia, Nashville, New Jersey, or Buffalo over the last two seasons. Also, NJ and Buffalo were some of the worst teams in the league last year, so we shouldn't be trying to augment our bottom 6 using players that can't even contribute on those rosters... unless we would like to emulate those rosters.
Also, +/- isn't a be all end all, but he's -37 in the last two years and -71 over the last 4. This is a bad player now.

I mean the flames do need to replace jankwoski/reider/rinaldo on the 4th line.
You'd think there'd be some bargain bin opportunity for 4th line guys that have some mix of speed, grit, tenacity.
My biggest wants from this offseason have always been, in order of priority:
1. Change the look of the top 6 forwards. The go-to offence being Monahan/Gaudreau has proven it's not good enough come crunch time.
2. The D isn't nearly as good as it looks on paper. With the holes created by hamonic, and perhaps Brodie, inject something new. Heck, swing big, maybe move Hanafin/Giordano.
3. Goaltending - They clearly look at Rittich as a 1b back up. So go get a true 1A.
If they can't achieve these, it's just going to be another middling/mediocre, Minnesota wild'ish season.

Your “non contributor” argument for a bottom 6 player does not align with his stats. Just sounds like blinded fandom, basing this opinion on absolutely nothing.
