the biggest issue for Bennett going forard is that Tkachuk will be back. Bennett excelled in PP1 in Tkachuk's place, but will probably see himself off a PP unit once again come next season. And somehow that will be blamed on him.

He did look good on PP1 - but it wasn't the key to his success. He was strong during 5v5 play. So even if he doesn't get PP time (hopefully he makes a case for PP2 time), he still needs to deliver strong 5v5 play from the centre ice position.

Also, Adrian Dater has an article up talking about Tuukka Rask being an option for Colorado. I think that makes a lot of sense for them. I don't think he's right in what the cost for Rask would be though - I think he'd come at a pretty reasonable cost given the goalie market. (Article here)

that would be excellent - paving a smooth path for Markstrom to roll into Calgary

2019- not much (Lucic trade)

Outside of 16 where the team picked 6th overall and last year the Flames have made huge moves in the offseason

So, what I've gleaned from my constant 'F5'ing on the internet and being forced to listen to Vancouver sports radio, which is just the worst: Markstrom and Vancouver are actually the closest they have been at any point. What was looking as unlikely a week ago has been upgraded to "real possibility."

Also, the reason we are hearing so much about Vancouver and OEL and not much about Boston and OEL isn't that Boston isn't in on it, but that the Coyotes are trying to do right by OEL and moving him to his preferred choice (Vancouver). If they just can't make it work, they will go with Boston.

Had a bit of a rough week personally, but E=NG never fails to cheer me up.

I feel bad for you... you just keep setting yourself up for disappointment. I mean, optimism is great and all, but you just sound like the the uncoordinated, overweight kid who tells his mom that he really thinks he's going to make the team this year.

As opposed to this thread that 5 days ago had half the posters talking about signing Pietrangelo, Hall and Markstrom with legitimate sincerity, but is now coming to terms with the fact that it will be re-sign Brodie, put more responsibility on Bennett and bring back Talbot?

I'm just parroting what I've been reading and hearing as I contemplate whether ritual seppuku upon completion of the possible OEL trade is too much of an over-reaction

It’s going to be ok. Joel Ward will announce OEL has been traded to Pittsburgh any time now.

So we’re hitting .400 when it comes to good off seasons. Ted Williams watch out!

Naw... That's hitting .714 IMO

Hamilton: Homerun
Frolik: Double, but got thrown out trying to turn it into a triple
Elliott: Bloop single
Smith: Single
Hamonic: Line drive out.
Lindholm/Hanifin: Homerun
Neal: Down swinging at a ball over his head
Lucic: Passed ball on the strikeout, so we got on base.

I like baseball an analogy because it has varying degrees of success and failure.
