According to the Athletic's Hailey Salvian, Mark Borowiecki is testing the waters of UFA after 10 years with the Sens.

Eklund is saying there is a battle of Alberta for the rights to Murray.

Askarov is the most hyped goalie prospect since Carey Price

Outside of cost to acquire, I don’t see why anyone would want Murray over Kuemper.

Neither sounds particularly appealing to me at the moment, especially considering cost.
Murray has won 2 cups and has looked fantastic... but for two consecutive seasons he has looked - at best - pedestrian. Rumours that he just isn't the same after his injury scare me.
Kuemper looks like the real deal, but so do a lot of goalies over the years for a short period of time. Is he the real deal, or just another Elliott? Or worse, another Jim Carey. I don't know.
I am pretty negative on goalies right now, however. Ask me about any goaltender, and I seem only able to see the downside. Heck, I will find something negative about Price and fixate on it for weeks even if the Habs retain 50% and it only cost the Flames future considerations. That's where I am at when it comes to goalies at the moment.

A bit off topic from the goalie discussion, but the more I think about it, the more I think a Gaudreau for Forsberg trade seems reasonable. Both teams can't get over the hump, but aren't in a position to rebuild.
Who would have to add, if anyone with a trade surrounding these two?

4 year age gap helps too. Also being RFa with a weak arbitration case.

Murray is 26 to Kuemper's 30, which is a huge difference as far as goaltenders go
Murray also carried the Penguins to 2 Cups in recent history.
Not sure I want either given the acquisition cost, but I don't think Murray is a crazy suggestion.

How does a 30 year old goalie who has only recently put up a season and a half of starter quality game, appear to be the “real deal”.
He’s good, but Murray is the obvious choice between the two for a handful of reasons.

Murray is definitely a target, but not for a 1st. Unless its conditional (can they still add conditions?) And 2021.
Unless they deal Gaudreau for a high pick, then yeah I suppose 19 could go. But I still don't like it.

Treliving wasn't able to get Alexander Edler but maybe he'd be interested in another type of veteran Swedish defensemen in Niklas Hjalmarsson?

I think Kuemper would also make more sense with a conditional pick.
Based off of his games played, or whether he re-signs after a year.
What would your condition on Murray be?

I agree. He isn’t worth any more than his offer sheet compensation would be..
Which, I’m guess would be in the 2nd rounder range. Unless there was a condition to sign. Even then, not a first

Games played. If he can't play 35 games, turns into a 2nd. Although O don't think with the ratified new CBA those kind of conditions can be applied to a pick.

I don't think the Penguins get past the Capitals with Murray in net in 2017 actually. MAF stole that series a la Halak in 2010.
